Problem with Stuntboat Challenge on Android

I've watched videos of the mission just to be sure.

 

On my Android version of Vice City, my runs are A LOT more efficient than the videos I've watched but the boat is A LOT slower & the best I can get is the second-to-last checkpoint. I go to where the last checkpoint was & my best run where I was counting was almost 5 full seconds off a successful run. My phone gets hacked by something with abilities you wouldn't normally think of, but it also might be a fault with the Android version.
