They will find a sweet spot for GTA+, what they're doing now isn't a good representation for it because the current GTAO wasn't built with that in mind.

It was originally meant to be a larger-scale version of GTA IV with mostly F2P mechanics. Which was the case when the game started since it was really easy to come up with cash before the 2015 in-game inflation. Much, much easier if you play Heists, even if you didn't have friends. So, in a way, GTAO wasn't even built with Shark Cards in mind to begin with. I only bought around $50 worth of Shark Cards to get basic businesses, the Buzzard, and the Savage. Which were very useful. Other than that, I think I spent another $10 on the Akula just 'cause I liked it. Since then, not another penny was spent when I could just earn 3M every 5 hours (10M before the Cayo nerf). In a way GTA+ isn't even that special, it's not a paywall unless we're talking about constantly utilizing the taxi + bonuses. It's catered more towards starters.

I’m actually looking forward to VI Online. Didn’t like GTAO much because it seemed outdated, though I enjoyed RDO. I’m a visual person so graphics mean a lot to me for various reasons, thought graphics aside, V gameplay was lacking in many ways compared to Red Dead.

I’m pretty confident VI Online will be fine, and a lot of us will jump on the bandwagon once it drops. The character creation will be great and the content even better.

Thats coming from an SP guy.

GTA Online has gotten a lot of gameplay updates since the pandemic, although compared to RDR2, it's still far from being a modern R* game. I really appreciate the inventory system in RDR2 and how they integrated the important stuff into the weapon wheel. I'd rather look at my inventory and scroll through things I have in my "pack" like thermal or night vision goggles than scroll through a bunch of hats and masks that I don't need.

So, I hope there's a car trunk storage system in GTA VI and GTAO2, so I can pick which things to carry on foot. Also an option to leave the machine pistols into the glove box for drive-bys, since they're probably useless on foot anyway.

Speaking of the weapon wheel, I think GTA V's is too cluttered with weapons I don't even use. Good thing they're changing it on GTA VI. TBH, I only ever use my shotgun, RPG, rifle, and sticky bomb. I pull out the explosive sniper and explosive shotty during pvp, but I'd rather get into a PVP vehicle anyway.

Honestly, I think they internally delayed dropping last gen support. They never announced the "service updates" they mentioned back in April so far and I doubt they will do it tomorrow with the update release.

I just hope they keep Vi only current gen.

Gta online sure whatever keep it going, i dont care that much (i would prefer if it was current gen though, more coblex dlcs that way.)

But even though Vi online will probably be current gen only, some of the leaked footage run on a PS4 iirc.

Lmao well the more they delay the game, the "safer" they will be releasing on Gen9. Dont forget the Gen 8 install base. But yeah i kinda doubt it. Anyway i am kinda off topic so i am gonna wrap this post saying this:

If they can make these dlcs run on both gens they won't drop support.

Considering they are extremely busy with Vi rn they won't be able to create a huge dlc like casino/perico.

That's why these small scale dlcs keep on coming (and will continue to do so untill vi drops) on both gens.

I know we barely know anything about the game, but with R*'s current attention to GTA V's Online mode, I think we have a solid idea on how it would probably be in GTA VI.

For one, I'd like to speculate that GTA VI could:

  • Have more focus on solo-friendly players @Tez2 did the player count increase significantly since they launched invite-only activities?
  • Taxi minigame for starters
  • Passive income from safes and mini deliveries
  • Heists for team-players
  • Hundreds upon hundreds of vehicles (some of which are seen among the traffic in the you know what)
  • Revamped economy (appropriately-priced businesses and toys, payouts)
  • Limited fast-travel options, and
  • Possibly very limited "migration" options like the Career Builder

Some things that aren't in GTA V online, but I wish would come in GTA VI's.

  • Revamped AI accuracy (which seems to be the case in some of the....)
  • Revamped stealth mechanics (we all know how broken it is. Suppressors attract attention, ants report crimes in the wilderness, cops would know which area you're in 100% of the time)
  • No missile lock-on for players
  • Optional blips in Public Lobbies or something similar, or
  • Friendly Fire Off for all players and Personal Vehicles (so you can do activities and not worry about griefers, AKA real Passive Mode).
  • More useful Body Armor and Food/Health Packs
  • Heavier vehicles (slower accelaration for land vehicles, less turbulence for aircraft)
  • Real FPS animations and mechanics
  • Max Payne 3-level third-person combat (without the diveshots)
  • Classic vehicle spawning where the vehicle really spawns instantly and in front of the player (not on the other side of the f'n mountain!)

Months after this post I'm reading this and thinking, GTA V Online has Integrated a lot of this and honestly it got me thinking. I do not want GTA VI Online. I have spent so much time in GTA Online as it's now called following the Next-Gen upgrade and honestly I think the best move for Rockstar is integrating new GTA VI features with the current GTA Online game and transform it into one of the most innovative live service games on the market. It's playerbase is already huge and if we gained the ability to lets say fly to the maps of GTA VI or the eventual GTA VII and have our own businesses there too? It'd turn the game into a massive W for all it's fans. GTA Online has come so far in 10 years and maybe I'm just somebody who doesn't wanna say goodbye... But I want it to continue it's growth, especially with the last 3 updates giving us a lot of what you put on your list and more.

@SacredBlaziken1 How would you go about integrating everything from VI to V Online?

It’s a 10 year old game at the core that’s built on 2005 hardware.

Sometimes it’s just better to start anew & 6 is the answer. Personally, R* might drop the “VI” moniker and stick with “GTA Online” all throughout the lifecycle of GTAVI, or it’ll be like Warzone 2.0 where you can’t play W1.0 (or maybe you can if you have the MW, I haven’t tried it for years so someone correct me if I’m wrong).

Either way, novelty is the bestselling thing in business. If T2 want their big boy billions, they better push VI/VI Online harder than Billy Mays. :kekw:

Since R* is obviously running out of good ideas for current GTAO, I have little expectations for VI Online. Creating a single player game is one thing, but creating an online game that will last for a decade is another, what could R* add to VI Online that already wasn't in GTAO when they already ran out of good ideas or do you think add this point they save their good ideas for VI online? To be honest, I have little to no ideas too what could further be added to GTAO that not already exists one way or another.

I'm pretty sure they have plenty of good ideas that was hampered by hardware limitations. They could innovate on past ideas or add totally new ones.

The style of the new "Career Progress" feature, added with GTA Online recent update, definitely resembles that of a battle pass inspired menu. You could take a Battle Pass menu, remove all references to being a Battle Pass and you could end up with something similar to this new feature.

GTA-Online-GTA-Online_2023-06-13_10-28-3

Like to turn this into a Battle Pass, dissociate the tiers from challenges. Have each tier be a level you progress towards with a reward upon completion and you have a Battle Pass.

This menu is only available on PS5 & XSX. To digress a little bit, I already checked out the PS5 files and the UI code of the Career Builder is similar to RDO's UI. So, I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies to this new "Career Progress" menu. We know from the September leak that GTA VI is basically RDR2 with new tech, but in a GTA setting. In other words, this menu is most likely inspired or backported off the same or a similar menu in VI.

The good thing is that Rockstar is seemingly steering away from anything Battle Pass related since we have GTA+, a subscription service. But I believe we could see a similar menu like this for GTA+ subscribers in VI's online. Especially the rewards that offer you GTA$, RP and something extra.

RDO already features the "Offers & Rewards" menu, which is similar to the Career Progress. But some rewards are limited-time with an expiry date. Plus, the tuneables that control event weeks works differently between GTAO & RDO. The latter relies on the catalog with more options.

This is the config, as an example, for the Semi-Auto Shotgun.

Acquire Costs with many types like coupons or vouchers or whether via Gold or Cash. Sell Prices. Even adjusting the UI is possible. Basically, more control of the shop menu instead of how it is in GTA Online with simple variables to either enable/disable or adjust the pricing ...etc.

GTA+ subscribers will definitely be stockpiling on them coupons and vouchers, but I wonder how far would that extend to and whether we would be surprised by something unexpected much like the subscription was totally unexpected.

No one knows, maybe in October. Maybe next year, who knows.

As for reveal, I think a trailer for the online mode might also come out along with story mode's.

If we're gonna base it on past marketing strategies, particularly GTA V's, then I think SP will take the spotlight for at least a semester, unless they're planning to release SP DLC a short time afterwards, and then get into marketing Online.

I think this'd work better than revealing and releasing GTAO2 outright. The devs could learn a few things from SP that they could augment to Online, even if they already polished Online2 by the time GTA VI SP released. People are gonna have a few critics on the balancing of vehicles and whatnot and the devs could at least do something about those before releasin GTAO2.

I don't think I could handle Lester rambling in my ear for countless hours again during heists. :cringekek:

The game centering around the two protagonists we have, Jason & Lucia, is a perfect opportunity to introduce a two-player co-op mode like Short Trips from GTA Online.

To give a similar experience of It Takes Two.

The Short Trip missions are some of my favourite missions in the entirety of GTA Online, I absolutely love what Rockstar did with them.

This has always been my theory about gta 6 story mode, that it will have a co op option and the ending of the game will end like "A Way Out"

Spoiler

One player controls jason and one controls lucia and its basically a 1v1 and the loser dies permanently and the epilogue of the game is just one character

It's a series of co-op missions that you unlock after completing the Contract DLC, where you and another player take control of Franklin and Lamar as they try to get Lamar's new organic weed startup off the ground.

They play out pretty much like Story Mode missions and have the same level of production value, and also shows where both of the characters are years after the events of the story. They're also funny, especially thanks to Lamar. Just very high quality overall.

Sounds interesting. Haven’t played much Online besides whatever’s available at the beginning (I’m below lvl 20). Thanks man!

I might get flamed for this but I think the ability cards in RDO were great and I hope they make a return in some capacity. I loved how you could switch between tankier or more agressive builds depending on the mission at hand, made PvP and PvE combat a lot more interesting than GTAO while also giving a stronger sense of progression. RDO´s gameplay had a lot more depth to it than GTAO, shame they abandoned it.

They can replace ability cards with consumable drugs. Which fit in lore-wise with the time setting and serve as a solution to some of the disadvantages of ability cards.

You get high on some cocaine or meth and you boost some of your attributes. Much like in the role-playing community. Put a cooldown on repeated use of the same drug type and you solve the issue of tryhards spamming.

Unlike ability cards, you wouldn't consume a drug and suddenly become Deadshot like the "Paint it Black" ability card.

Drug do sound like a cool thing TO HAVE IN GTA VI.

But the concern is it would glorify or downplay drug addiction. Can you imagine kids discussing cocaine in school because of this game.

BST on the other hand, the effect is short, it’s enhance things like bullet damage too, and it sounds totally ridiculous.
