Coming 2023 for Consoles and PC (Steam)

PAYDAY 3 is the much anticipated sequel to one of the most popular co-op shooters ever. Since its release, PAYDAY-players have been reveling in the thrill of a perfectly planned and executed heist. That’s what makes PAYDAY a high-octane, co-op FPS experience without equal.

Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law-enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement.

Really? Wow. Payday 2 was my "I'll try it out when it goes on sale." Went on sale many times and was cheap AF, but never got it. That and Rainbow Six. I felt, like of well if I get it now, everyone is going to be so much better. Too late to the party. Happy to see this as I am curious of the concept.

Any tips for a Pay Day noob welcome.

EDIT: Those screens are gorgeous! Hopefully diamond district heists.

X to doubt it'll make 2023 given it's been so long already lol.

Honestly though, they've got a lot of work to do cause a lot of the sequel hasn't aged so well IMO. There's a load of things I look back on with Payday be it stealth, gunplay, mission design, how you interact with stuff, that I just ask my self like... do I want to play a game like that again? No, not really lol, Payday 2 milked it for all it's worth. There's been a bajillion DLC's since I last played but I do remember 2's missions being significantly less interesting than the first games too. The progression and customisation they added in 2 was nice but the way they did it became a bit of a mess very quickly, which was not helped by features that were tied to it being MIA at launch.

The gold standard of co-op shooters in 2923 (happy new year :)) for me remains Deep Rock Galactic, which may not have the depth or crazy levels of customisation like other co-op shooters but IMO it's probably the first co-op shooter I've played since L4D where I feel like they brought their own, fresh ideas to the table, where as most (if not all, tbh) of the rest just copy and pasted the L4D formula and put it in a new setting - or the same, in the case of stuff like WWZ, B4B, etc.

But yea, I hope they bring some fresh ideas to this one, I'm all for more good co-op games.

Seeing as I know you play on console it was a good thing you didn't because Payday 2 on console is pathetic. Overkill threw it on there and abandoned it pretty much instantly, with their official answer when they were publicly criticised for this quite literally being "real fans play the game on PC".

As far as tips go, depends what they do with the new game but tbh the best advice in any of these types of co-op shooters is learn how to survive first, learn how to do the objectives second, then learn how to get the most kills every run last. I've played loads of the classic co-op PC shooters over the years and the best team mates are the ones who don't die.

I hope I'm not quoting you out of context. But does anyone feel like that about GTA? I do. But, thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that.

Appreciate that. Always impressed by your level of knowledge when it comes to other games. I'm dying for a co-op shooter. Wildlands was my "in" but didn't make online friends for it.

Good memory. I have installed now some games on my laptop. Crossing over to the otherside, but I'm sure I'll only install games I purely love. I have a decent enough graphics card and RAM but will still likely play on a controller (console peasantry to the max) 😛

Basically, don't die. Good tip. Does anyone play or even assist late bloomers? Maybe not. That's why I'd love to find players for Pay Day 3 and just see for at least the first 20hrs if it's my type of game. .

I just wanna know what new heisters they’re gonna add in the most obvious tie-in cringe way. H3H3, John Wick, and Scarface-but-not-Scarface? How can they outdo those?

GTA does stuff on a scale no one else does, and R* are always trying new things, so I'm always excited for a new open world R* game. Co-op shooters however are a dime a dozen these days and yea, as I said, so many of them are basically just reusing the L4D formula.

Depends on the game and the community it fosters honestly. I find my self mentioning Deep Rock Galactic again but that's a co-op shooter widely acknowledged as having a really, really good community both in game and out of game. More than that, though, and the reason why I rate it so highly is the ideas the devs brought to the table regarding co-op play. It's not just 1-4 players shoot stuff, it's 1-4 players actively work together by sharing light, communicating with in-game mechanics (the best ping feature in ANY game, in-game salutes/shouts) and also the four incredibly well balanced classes that each bring their own useful mechanic to a team that all actively promote team work. Far too many co-op shooters for me are 4 players shooting stuff with an ability/gadget/skill that is typically a selfish ability so it feels less like a co-op game where you need to work together and more like a 4 player game where you're 4 players in the same level with friendly fire (usually) disabled and you just so happen to be working towards the same objective.

Jason and Lucia official gta 6 crossover

Fortnite crossover

Maybe some wacky other youtuber one that will be hilariously outdated and will probably do some problematic sh*t a year after the DLC for it is released

Excited for PAYDAY 3, I've played 2 on and off since it launched back in 2013 and its still a fun game to jump into; group, solo, doesn't matter. I hope they've been keeping good tabs on what the modding community has made over the years for QoL improvements though.

If you (or anyone here) would like to team up, hit me up on Steam or Discord :beerhat: PAYDAY 2, 3, whatever.

Good thing about PAYDAY 2 is that you can (mostly) play it any way you want. Learning the mechanics and such will take a while, but you only need to worry about meta gaming and such if you go for the hardest difficulties or challenges, and even then if you know the game mechanics you can get get through them fine with any setup provided you have a good team 😛 Id imagine this is going to carry over to PAYDAY 3.

Playing random-matchmaking in PAYDAY 2 however will not end well though sadly. If you somehow dont get kicked for being too low-leveled or for running the "wrong" loadout, you'll find that the lobby may suffer from poor communication which may lead to objective failures, restarts, poor takes, etc.

re; communication

I know voice comms are always best but in-game communication mechanics have come on leaps and bounds since Payday 2 initially launched, though I've not played it in years so I dunno how much they improved on it since.

Payday 2 did have a ping system for specials IIRC but ping systems have evolved a lot more since, plus things like communication wheels and the like. It'd be good if they bring a lot of those modern communication features into 3.

Don't die.

For real, though, take things slowly. Start going loud with the loud guns. Stealth is optional save for 4 heists that have mandatory stealth (Point of no return timers when alarm triggers). Cover is the best armor, don't go too much rambo and don't get down at the opposite place of the map. PAy attention to objectives and listen closely. Most heists have indicators of where to go, though some later heists have item hunts which is a little annyoing first time.

Kicking is sadly common in public lobbies and will probably remain in PD3. Best solution is host your own game. Find some friends to play the game with. Game is much more enjoyable with friends. Also, try to avoid gettin gcarried on too high difficulties; you risk not learning the tricks of the trade. Stealthing can be fun, but it can be a bit slow and map knowledge is important.

I'm looking forward to PAYDAY 3 as a long time PAYDAY 2 player (since 2015). I hope the game's setting will be a bit more grounded and not over the top silly as some heists went in PD2. Though I'm perplxed as the main crew (Dallas, Wolf, Chains and Hoxton) will return to their life of crime. They are getting older, but it remains to be seen. I am glad it can be wishlisted on Steam because that means it won't be an EGS exclusive which would've killed the game at launch.

Looking at PD2's later wepaon packs, it seem sthe Devs have been experimenting with wepaon gimmicks that could be in PD3. Mor ewepaon variety is nice, but I hope they don't give us too many memey wepaons. Sure I like killing a cop with a bundle of cash as much as the next guy.
