So in my last playthrough of GTA 4 which was also my first, I noticed that this game had choices, something that was missing from GTA 5. One of the hardest one that I had to choose was Playboy X or Dwayne. I killed Playboy X and got his penthouse and Claude's outfit. I played more through the story and

That’s the choice I typically make. I can’t bring myself to hurt Dwayne. 
 

This is one of the many great things about GTA IV, once you finish this play through, play it again with different choices.

I wish the Dwayne-Playboy rewards were more balanced. Maybe you could get the penthouse + Dwayne as a friend when you side with Dwayne and you get money + ability to call backup/goons when you side with X

You definitely made the right decision. The apartment and outfit plus Dwayne as a friend and his backup friendship benefit is a way better reward than the money Playboy pays you (he doesn't become a friend if you kill Dwayne, all you get is the money and he wants nothing more to do with you). And the scene where you kill Dwayne is extremely depressing. Playboy's death is kind of sad too but it has nothing on Dwayne's.

 

If you play again or happen to have a save from before the mission you should try killing Dwayne instead, it's brutally sad. Of all the choices in the game this is the one where the "right one" is the most clear (if you've played both and can compare).

You made the right choice don't worry. It's pretty one-sided as X stops talking to you if you kill Dwayne.

killing dwayne means you only getting a few lousy g's and thats it, even the a*shole playboy doesn't say thank you and ghosts you after the mission, killing playboy not only your getting playboy crib (and claude clothes if you count that) but dwayne as a homie to hang out and even send his hustlers as loyal bodyguards to niko

Dwayne may annoy you with his constant whining, but compared to Playboy, these are minor things. In addition, from the dialogues of Niko and Dwayne, it is clear that Dwayne impresses Niko, and even though the main character and the killer, who in a good way should not care about the people ordered - his job is to eliminate the ordered person, but fulfilling Dwayne's requests, he managed to feel sympathy for him, which can not be said about Playboy

Yeah, killing Dwayne sucks ass and the money really isn't worth it.
