9604
Hey everyone! As the title says, I wanted to know if it's possible at all to edit the police liveries and add liveries on the vanilla police vehicles, as I would like to make my own liveries for Alderney by using Area Livery Mod. I first intended on editing the liveries on this vanilla ELS vehicle pack I found, but ELS keeps making my game crash and I can't find a workaround, so I wanted to edit the vanilla cars instead. But I can't find a livery that I'm able to edit in the WTDs. Thanks! Edited December 26, 2022 by 9604

I dont know whether or not you need the help anymore but if you do or anyone else for future reference does, Yes you can very easily do this, Using openiv you can locate the vehicle files you installed in pc-models-cdimages-vehicles.img now you're in vehicles.img you'll see all of the games vehicle files laid out For the vehicle you'd like to edit, locate its wtd file, so for police2 find police2.wtd, double click it, find the liveries you'd like to edit and export them. Once done find a photoedit suit or use photopea (Free) to make the edits, save as dds and then right click the texture you'd like it to replace inside its wtd, right click and select replace (If you already know this my apologies) To view your edit to ensure its right, Select the vehicles wft file in the same folder you found the wtd file so for police2 it'd be police.wft you can use this to check the livery before loading the game up again For police.wtd (The first police cruiser) Its different to the other vehicles, To find its textures you'll need to go into the vehshare.wtd which is also inside the vehicles.img, The police textures are in there and from there its just the usual export, edit, and replace process as explained before If you'd like to get els working though as the lights do look allot nicer, You'd need to use the gtaiv downgrade tool to downgrade your game to a version that is more compatible with els, Many of the more recent gtaiv els videos ive seen online seem to be on the same version I downgraded to which is 0.7.0 The downgrade tool does it all for you and is relatively easy to follow. I've been creating my own texture mods lately for gtaiv props, vehicles and other environment related stuff and I can say for sure that texture modding is probably among the easiest if not the easiest forms of modding I hope I haven't misunderstood the question and gotten ahead of myself here Hope this helps in one way or another Edited Thursday at 08:08 PM by WildManDan additional information
