Same, my only shared criticism with some others would be the amount of time you have to wait, perhaps less than 1 in-game day would be best, or at least have it be shorter depending on the number of players in a session, mostly because it's a Holiday-only event and it might take a while considering it's RNG.

We're focusing on the timers and mechanisms and so forth whereas rockstar want a random visit from the gooch when you're least expecting it, and I think the timer will deliver that for most casual players.

 

Rare but not too rare.

For what it's worth for those still trying to make this happen, two of my GTA friends believe that other random "blue dot" events in the session may interfere with it happening. No idea if they are right or not, I wasn't there. But apparently they were in a session just waiting... and waiting... and so forth. It just wouldn't show. Then one of them noticed a blue dot export car and took it to the docks to deliver. As soon as he was done, he got Gooched.

 

Side note, I really enjoyed this silliness. I love how he laughs while he's running around. I have been Gooched twice now, and the second time I just followed him around in a car for a while, enjoying his laughing.

This is it, this is what most veteran/hardcore players in forums/subreddits/etc like these miss. These are catered to the player who won't be waiting on purpose for the thing to appear, those who legitimately play the game for over an hour with friends or even in public lobbies, not hardcore players like some in this forum and elsewhere who log in on purpose to see an event appear, that's not how it's designed to work. And for that it works perfectly.

 

However, one player per in-game day in a large session even in that case is a bit much IMO and I think future time-limited events should probably scale with the amount of players. All else, it's... just fine. It's not made for you to wait for it, it's made for you to play the game and do a bunch of other stuff for an hour then get it appearing as a surprise. It's still a multiplayer game, of course they'll do some events requiring more than one player.

Stand on top of your car. He won't be able to get you there. If he does get you, then jump into your car and chase him down.

I honestly don't know if I would see either Gooch or the Die Hard events with my usual playing. I'm not often just standing around in freeroam. I'm usually in a mission doing things.

I was in a lobby with five people for like two hours yesterday, but during that time I never saw any notification that anybody got gooched. So I guess he works the same way as normal muggers, where they just won't be able to mug the player if they keep moving around. So the Gooch just keeps trying to spawn near a player forever, and nobody else ever gets gooched

If it is like the mugger btw, then setting your vehicle access to Everyone will allow him to pull you out of it.

I liked this event, except for the wait time. I just hope if we ever get a full costume that it's not locked behind GTA+ but instead perhaps a Christmas Eve or Day log in bonus like the Sasquatch costume on Halloween.

Actually got it by standing on the highway near Paleto Bay. There are no turns so I was able to easily put some Combat MG bullets into his backside. But definitely useful for others who still need to kill him.

I'm assuming he doesn't work like that since I had him spawn running behind me while I was ripping down the road in a car at one point.

I couldn't sleep so I logged in, and after a couple hours, f*cking finally got this

The Die Hard pistol was much easier, just a matter of lobby with few people+nobody near+me waiting inside the spawning radius at 8pm. But this f*cker..... Spent about 40 minutes in a lobby with just other guy (sitting inside the freakshop!) and me.

Set up an IO lobby, waited 40min, invited another guy. No gooch for 2 hours, then we gave up

Yeah I tried for a few hours. Nothing. One guy was saying he was waiting for like 6 hrs for it to attack him, and he got nowhere. Funny enough, I went over to his location, and it spawned, so I helped him kill it and he got his mask.

 

The 48 min timer is just overkill for this event. I can't be arsed with it any longer.

Not sure what causes him to spawn but that 48 minute wait thing is BS. I spent hours walking the streets & no sign of him then the following day I sign in sold a car then spotted the blue dot for the Cayo drunk guard. As I was taking his wallet the Gooch struck I'd only been signed in no more then 20 minutes.

Huh. My wife has been gooched three times, but I haven't gotten it even once.

Well finally saw him for the first time. Started hearing strange snickering in my right ear while idling, at first I was wondering if it's one of the homeless guys giggling. Wasn't expecting him to just manifest from a waste container like a common crackhead, maybe that's what his backstory is

Anyway, I managed to get mugged by the Gooch again. This was shortly after I had completed an Acid sale. Again, I was in the session for no longer than 10 minutes.
