I can’t blame him. I would be annoyed as well if people referring to me as Trevor for the last 10 years. Just cuz Matt doesn’t mind doesn’t mean Steven Ogg, sure just pretend to get used to it.

 

Plus, we need to remember that GTA 5 came out in 2013… I say over the years. He was fine with it until he just got tired of it.

 

it wouldn’t surprise me if Drug Wars was originally meant to be Trevor but because of Steven, getting tired of the character, they likely had to do something different. 

The sad thing is, this is probably still gonna happen with GTA 6 actors getting annoyed by GTA fans, and likely tired of their characters

I think it's funny he complains about this trevor thing when I'm pretty sure he himself said the reason he got into a lot of shows later on was because he said the directors wanted him in it just for the reason that they played GTA too and wanted the guy that played trevor LMAO. 

 

Anyways I personally hope they give trevor the Johnny treatment, given that his character is just some crazy dude that kills everything he sees(I prefer actual well thoughtout characters like in gta4) and also because his voice actor seems like an insufferable douche from what I've seen lately. Wouldn't be much of a loss unlike if they decided to kill off Michael or especially Franklin and or Lamar.

I can't blame him only because Trevor is a character full of despicable traits... But then again, it's on him for accepting the role in the first place.

 

But no, I don't agree with actors getting annoyed by people reffering to them as characters for 10 years.  That's called being a Diva.

There would be two ways of handling this situation. 

 

Actors like Ned Luke, and I've even read people talking about Mark Hamill, which is a great example, were rightly humbled by the outpouring of enthousiasm and adoration of people who came to know these actors through the Grand Theft Auto games and the original Star Wars and Joker titles. 

 

Then there's Steven Ogg, someone who I think is an excellent actor, and I always loved his mannerisms, voice, and just general way of being, I admired him as an actor the way I admired Jack Nicholson, because there's something special about his essence you can't capture in worlds.

 

But part of that essence is this genius he has, niched under and in part expressed through his unhinged craziness, and I've seen that dynamic in action in Grand Theft Auto through the portayal of Trevor Philipps. I think no one could have done a better job with Trevor than Steven Ogg, he brought an interesting edge to this character and made him more than just a maniac. 

 

I don't what he's looking for, in that video he seems to get offended when people refer to him as "Trevor", even though all the cameo customer wanted, was for Ogg to reprise his role as Trevor to read those lines. But you can see the resentment when he reads those lines, resisting it every step of the way. I think all that happened is he ran into some kids who played the game, and got called Trevor a bunch of times, even though adults will probably adress him as Steven. I think that really got under his skin and made him resent his role as a Trevor.

 

Looking at it more in depth, there might be some existential crisis attached to that. He feels dwarfed in comparison to Trevor, who everyone knows, where he feels some of his existence negated by that character, because everywhere he goes, it's almost like he wears a uniform. People see him as the guy who played Trevor, and that might slowly drive him nuts. But Ned Luke got it, he gets that people admire him for his role and runs with it. We know he's the real guy, and Micheal is the character he portrays. Ogg on the other hand seems offended and feels like people admiring his character takes away from him. I jus lost it so hard at him saying in the video that Trevor is a cartoon and that he is real, the guy even dyied his hair to look different from his role. He's so driven by fear, he's imprisoned himself in that perception that Trevor is bigger than him, just because the character was successful.

 

Everybody warned Christian Bale he would commit career suicide by playing the role of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, but Chris knew better, and that's not what happened. The more Steven resists it, the worse its gonna get. You played Trevor, everyone loved you, now go on to greener pastures, if that is what you want. I don't understand where all this resentment is coming from. Sheesh.

Not really yes he was in on the OG heist but GTA online during that time (pre-2015) still took place before story mode

First of all if a GTA 6 actor is going to get annoyed, (like Steven) then I would at least give a sh*t about that. 
 

Second of all: I am not defending nor agreeing on Steven decisions he should’ve decline his Hugo One request. And make a cameo video, or whatever saying that he’s no longer doing Trevor impression. 

 

 Thirdly: he’s an actor not a “gamer”. Remember, was he or rockstar supposed to be aware that the Trevor role, is going to be still known as of 2023. It’s stupid when people say “he should’ve turn down the role” as if he would know honestly I can respect him for moving on and trying to do different roles.

This is exactly what I assumed the more I played Drug Wars and its content.
