Do you think Trevor is going to return?

In the new DLC, Ron mentioned Trevor and if you go through all the new clothes, you'll notice some sweatpants and bruiser chukka boots (both items that Trevor has worn throughout story mode).

 

Is it possible Trevor will make a comeback and we'll finally have some Ron & Trevor moments again?

 

Many people dislike Trevor because of his bizarre behaviour and because of him killing Johnny from TLMC, however there's so much to love about Trevor like his bad ass tough guy "I don't give a f***" attitude along with his hilariously crazy insults.

I think R* tried but didn't offer Steven Ogg enough money. Hence his recent anti-GTA outbursts.

Absolutely not happening after years of him trying to dissociate from the GTA character, which he calls a "cartoon" and after that Cameo meltdown.

 

This is not recent, he's been dissociating from the character for years, so I don't think this has anything to do with "R* not offering him enough money recently" or whatever similar thing really. Even in-game I believe they had someone a few DLC's back even say "Trevor had gone all Vinewood" or something, so... I do think we might see Ned Luke, just like we've seen Shaun Fonteno, but not Steven Ogg ever again. He hasn't been in games recently, just live action TV shows, so I think he was just being whiny in the Cameo and doesn't want anything to do with videogames anymore in general.

Trevor is done, though it would be cool if Michael DLC came out around 10th anniversary of the game in September/October.

August 29, 2017, Smuggler's Run update. Ron mentioned Trevor's gone all Vinewood on him. I'm guessing Rockstar wanted Trevor in that update, but Steven Ogg was already disassociating from the character.

I don't think we'll see Trevor Philips again. Although, Dax made me feel like I was playing Series A again.

Nope. Trevor has already made his appearance in GTA Online (even twice: intro & contact missions, then the heist), plus Steven Ogg doesn't want to return to his role.

Accepting money for a Trevor Cameo request but then using that to complain about it and not reimbursing people or just outright denying the request. I.e. being an asshole scammer. Unknown to how many other people he's done this to tbh.

 

All of this could have been avoided by him denying the request or publicly stating he doesn't want Trevor requests. Not taking over a hundred dollars and using them to make a video complaining about the request.

I thought he was tired of being associated with the role that got too stuck to him - but here he feels like Amy Winehouse, when she was too drunk to sing in a concert.

Nope. As seen by the actor, he no longer prefers being associated with the character.

 

What I know for sure is that the Agent episode of SP DLC where Trevor works for the IAA was the first one Rockstar was working on before being scrapped all-together. Considering the complete mission list for that episode ended up within the game files of certain updates released on PS3/Xbox 360 versions. So Steven Ogg was definitely involved within that process back in 2014 which could explain his appearance within the Heists update as well.

 

So him not liking the character could be due to some internal drama where he no longer prefers working with Rockstar or he simply doesn't like the character because people always link him up with the crazy personality of Trevor? Eitherway, he is extremely unlikely to return.

A list of the codenames behind the missions was added within the scripts and removed after two title updates.

 

The references to the Casino Heist? Bogdan and his submarine? Agent 14? IAA and Drones? All of that was referenced within the list which was transformed into content for GTA Online updates over the years.

I find it wierd that he'd dissociate from the character because well, this exists too and it wasn't that super long ago:

Sure, it's possible that suddenly he hates everything about Trevor because sometimes actors get tired of being typecast or that everyone remembers them from "that one thing from the past" but I think people are misinterpreting those Cameo videos. Out of the three main actors he is absolutely the one people like to identify as the character he plays and I think he just got fed up with that so he's like "hey, that's a cartoon, I'm just an actor".

 

He is also kinda right in that Trevor doesn't exactly have much depth to him and he's literally just the stylized version of a psychopath. He is funny and all but the game doesn't really delve deep into his character, in fact he gets the least amount of development of the trio by far. I think that if Rockstar presented Steven Ogg with a story that fleshes Trevor out more then he'd absolutely jump on the opportunity of "getting Trevor out of the cartoon".

 

The thing is however that GTA Online isn't really the place for that and I'm pretty sure that he'd never agree to do something like The Contract where Franklin is playing second fiddle to the Dr. Dre stuff. If they ever bring Trevor back then the DLC should be about him and not some old celebrity.

In my opinion a bad decision. He will never get a better written role.

Sometimes you don't wanna be associated with 1 role. Christopher Walken hates that most people only know him through an SNL skit. GTA was his big break but he wants to be known as more I guess. Fair enough, Trevor was too much.

In Ogg's defence, this medium is well below him.

GTAV barely brought in any money and isn't worth an A-list actors time.

 

Leave the acting in these cartoons to those Z-list actors like

Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba and Norman Reedus...

 

 

For the sake of impartiality though, it wouldn't be the first time I've heard of a VA has falling out with R* or insert any dev studio name here.

 

It's generally not the best paying acting gig, very competitive and often a case of who you know and if you're buddy with the VA producers.

Not as s**tty as Q&A but not many things are.

I don't think him taking Cameo money and sending back that rant is cool. He knows what he's being paid for and should've refunded if he didn't want to do it.

 

However... I do get it. Trevor is a pretty one-dimensional character, and gamers are as bad as Trekkies in their sense of nerd entitlement. Remember that Shatner SNL skit (the infamous "Get a life" one)? I get that same vibe from Ogg. Shatner was only sort of joking, and this is much the same, sans any humor at all. How many times a week do you think he has Trevor lines yelled at him? How many Cameo requests do you think people send in where they act like he IS Trevor, rather than treating him like a fellow human being? I'm sure it's annoying as all hell for someone who doesn't play the game himself. So his behavior wasn't cool, but at the same time, I get it. And don't blame him for dissociating.

If anyone is interested or cares, Ogg was at Comic Con Brussels this past October. I wanted to attend, but I had to return to the US for business reasons the same week before the event.

 

He talks about GTA V and RDR 2 around the 13:30ish mark.
