Motorcycle Crash Damage Reduction Outfits

Thanks to @Tomtomsengermany for the pro tip about suits that provide some damage protection for motorcycle crashes, even if you aren't wearing a helmet. The ones that allegedly provide protection are the outfits found in the Biker Suits, Stuntman Suits, and Deadline categories. I've seem reports that the reduction is down to 5% of the damage taken. I did some testing and I think the tops in the Racing Jerseys provide some protection as well, although I think it's not as good as the full outfits. I also think the Racing Jerseys provide protection if they are worn under a jacket.

It is hard to test damage reduction from motorcycle crashes. I think just the initial damage from the crash is reduced. Any additional damage from sliding or hitting a second object is NOT reduced. My testing was conducted by repeatedly driving my HSW Hakuchou Drag into the same walls from the same distances.

I did a little online searching and the only references I found about this were from Reddit posts 5 months ago. Was this a known thing from when these clothing items were released? Do we know from game files exactly which outfits provide protection and by how much? How does the clothing protection interact with helmet protection? Can anyone else attest to what clothing items they believe can provide some protection from a motorcycle crash? Does anyone else think the Racing Jerseys provide some protection?

I think Racing Jerseys also reduce damage from motorcycle crashes some.

I think Racing Jerseys worn under a jacket still reduce damage from motorcycle crashes some.

Would it be possible for someone like @Tez2 to look into the game files about the above post? Are there outfits or other clothing items to provide damage reduction when crashing a motorcycle? How does this compare with protection from wearing a helmet? Are there benefits from wearing a helmet with other clothing that gives protection? Does the new Acid Lab sell missions give any protection when riding the sale motorcycle. These are some clothing items there are questions about: Biker Suits, Stuntman Suits, and the Deadline outfits, other racing style outfits such as the Racing Suits, Air Racing Suits, Classic Racing Suits, LS Tuners Racing Suits, and HSW Racing Suits, Racing Jerseys with or without a jacket on top, and other biker themed clothing such as the jackets released with the Motorcycle Club update.

Much thanks for the assistance!

RAGE Euphoria handles the collision damage. The damage calculation is probably somewhere within the source code aka hardcoded. Because I was only able to find the following:

Spoiler
   <KnockOffBikeForwardMinComponent value="0.1" />
   <KnockOffBikeForwardMaxComponent value="0.1" />
   <KnockOffBikeUpMinComponent value="0.05" />
   <KnockOffBikeUpMaxComponent value="0.05" />
   <KnockOffBikePitchMinComponent value="10" />
   <KnockOffBikePitchMaxComponent value="10" />
   <KnockOffBikeMinSpeed value="10" />
   <KnockOffBikeMaxSpeed value="30" />
   <KnockOffBikeMinUpright value="0.2" />
   <KnockOffBikeMaxUpright value="0.8" />
   <KnockOffBikeEjectMaxImpactDepth value="0.2" />
   <KnockOffBikeEjectImpactFriction value="0.5" />

Which reveals nothing substantial about what the topic is about. Either that or my attempts at searching sucks.

So I resorted to doing the same in-game test you did. Except with my health value being shown overhead.

I could have gotten better results if I collided into the wall following the same collision path, the same spot and maintaining the same speed.

Regardless, I only noticed that the helmet grants protection against motorcycle crashes, which isn't surprising. In one of the attempts I did unrecorded, I collided and didn't receive any damage whatsoever. My health stayed at 328. I don't know if that's a bug or intended per design. You can see my second attempt at 1:39, where I survived the collision, with my health being reduced by one.

The helmet protection goes back almost a decade ago and even further back to GTA IV days. If we could locate where the helmet protection is coded, we could confirm whether specific outfits grants protection or not. But based on my testing, I would consider this a "myth" for now.

Well, that's just peachy. I turned off automatic motorcycle helmets because of how buggy they are.

Won't put the helmet on automatically, won't take it off automatically. Helmet gets stuck so you *can't* take it off, etc, etc.

Insoluble Fiber

and plus when we set our desired bike helmets, they get changed to a dif one constantly.

Oh and lets not talk about how it takes about a minute cycling through the menu to get to the helemt you want

The real mystery is why does my guy put on a red motox helmet when he gets out of helicopters sometimes.

Thanks for checking! I've received weird results too. Every once in a while I'll die from full health in a test crash with the "protective" clothing, when I'd expect to only take a little damage. I'd hazard a guess that the game's collision detection is a little finicky. If I get bored maybe I'll do more testing.
