So what happened to Cayo Perico now?

Recommended Posts

There’s people in my local Facebook GTA group and YouTubers who are not very happy about the changes to Cayo ever since the new Drug War came out.

What made the heist difficult now? I would play it and see for myself, if it weren’t for my busy work schedule this week (been away from the game a few days now).

The guards can now see dead bodies, and sound the alarm when they find one. This applies to all the guards, inside and outside the compound.

Also, as per Rockstar logic, when the alarm goes, everyone immediately knows where you are, even if you dropped that body 5 minutes ago, on the other side of the map.

The main problem I have with this is Rockstar's primitive and unrealistic stealth and detection mechanics.

In normal stealth games, finding a dead body means red alert, lockdowns, increased patrols and whatnot, but they won't magically know where you are.

It seems this is gonna ba a frustration to get used to until a new solo 'elite' method is found without triggering the alarm which hopefully somebody will post soon.

I hope that the chance of the gate keys dropping is closer to the compound as the last time I tried to do this heist it made the gate keys drop on the 'furthest' away red guard, still I am sure you pro's out there will help us amateur heist players find a way once again!

For solo players it's actually quite simple: forget about getting the gate keys, and just hack the office elevator. You shouldn't go out of your way for the gate keys anyway. I never did.

You can get there with minimum kills. Just time your route to pass behind all the guards, and only kill the one red guard upstairs (no one comes there to see the body)

If you have to kill the red guard downstairs, that is walking between the stairs and the gate, kill him when he's at the gate, so the Juggernaut doesn't find him.

The real problem is going to be 2-player runs where you need to find the keycards.

For those, I suggest going the office route and taking the main target first, so there will be no surprises with the new shift of guards finding old bodies.

The idea that guards now alert after seeing dead bodies, but with no actual game mechanic for the player to hide them, is the most stupidest thing I ever read.

Exsanguination

I should be able to get through the compound with only killing two guards (the ones going up the steps to the office) hopefully one has the gate keys. I imagine the heli will see the guy outside next to the bike so it’ll have to be a run to the water instead which is slooww. A velum approach should work since you can typically fill a loot bag at the airstrip without killing anyone. If no guard uniform just steal a boat from a civilian and head to the drainage tunnel.

I think the worst part of this is probably the reinforcement guards detecting them, or worse, the helicopter. Just because it's harder =/= Better. THey already gave us an ingame 3 day cooldown which resulted in unneeded difficulty to get Hard mode unless you do it with a friend.

Yes, we've had guards detecting bodies before. Deliver EMP and we all know how lovely of a stealth mission THAT is. But compare the number of guards.

I'd say this was a really petty and passive aggressive change, but THE most petty heist change was probably Casino Heists' "Added a Rock near the back entrance" to stop people from saving 1.3 seconds when doing the Gruppe6 Big Con.

I know this borderlines B&M but...

Guard: "I spotted a dead body in the southernmost part

EVeryone else: He's at the far north, kill him!

Guard: Hold on, how do you know he's up there?

Everyone: Game told us, lol!

I miss when you could blow up Rubio's copter when it was airborne to get him to retreat. Now it gets you detected even if you're not even close.

Actually, no. In Deliver EMP, they would only react if they saw someone get shot in front of them, or heard a bullet impact near them.

You could kill the guards at the entrance, let the Insurgent drive out past their bodies, no problem.

Agreed, there was absolutely no need for this change. Not after already adding those cooldowns.

Huh, that must've been a change then. Was a loooong time since I played that heist. I remember Lester/Agent 14 telling us the driver would spot the body. Oh well.

also, I'll add some to avoid double posting. I honestly would've been 90% fine if it was only the Juggernaught who would've detected dead bodies. At least you'd have to kill him as well and I'm always a little nervous killing that guy. The other 10% of me would've been like "Aw man, more work? Jeez."

can you expand upon this? is the rock located before you enter the casino basement garage wit gruppe6?

It was some short of shortcut that let people save like a second or two driving straight into the entrance. Usually from the a Arcade down Popular Street (It's the closest). They added a rock big enough you couldn't fit a vehicle through a gap. I'll take a picture of the location if I can remember it. It's just that I remember that one small petty change that didn't really change anything, it's that it was so damn petty.

Rockstar logic: New plane mission, you must land the plane, but the landing gear doesn't work. Enjoy!

I'm honestly perplexed by this. Either there are no brains left at C*, or they're deliberately trying to piss off the community. Has nobody over there ever come up with the idea of a mechanic for hiding bodies? Or are they just coming up with new ways to make the experience as miserable as possible to force more Shark Card purchases?

Either way, I'm glad I've done enough runs to not have to complain about being poor, will give me more reason to stop coming back to this sorry excuse for a game.

you don‘t even have mechanics to hide bodies, therefore they should not be able to detect bodies.

Surprised we don't have a zat gun from Stargate. 1 shot stun, 2 shot kill, 3 shot disintegrate. Similar to the Up N Atomizer, that'd be the lazy dev solution for "moving" bodies.

They don’t want you to move bodies. They want you to have the most pain in the ass experience they can possibly give you so the game seems difficult.

Yet they wonder why players say f*ck you and just cheat/mod their way through all

the nonsense.

It's not THAT much of a change. I remember when I first started playing Cayo, the alarm went off because a guard found a body so it's nothing new, probably just more aggressive.

If you're not in a big rush, you do not have to kill the guard up the stairs at the office. Just let him walk to the edge where he stops and sneak behind him. He will still be standing there daydreaming when you come back out. Sneak behind him again to leave. The route I take always kill guards in remote places anyway. Besides, a little more challenge is welcome since these trips can get so repetitive.

I guess I assumed that that was always the case, and I'd not drop bodies in places that they might be seen.  Will be curious to see if this actually affects me any.

I'll be testing my usual solo methods and see what's what.

Patrolling guards and vehicles are going to be an issue though.

It must be an intentionally designed machanic.

Just like toreador now cannot be used in most jobs.

For real? How about heist prep? I mostly use it for that one underwater prep job for the Casino heist.

Inside the compound is simple enough,  it's the rest of the island that becomes frustrating if you want to pick up something secondary.

It doesn't affect freemode, so you're good to go for heist preps. All vehicles remain usable in freemode.

It only affects instanced jobs, basically anything that is not in freemode: races, contact missions, heist finales and setups. No more Toreadors there.
