Looks like it's still locked for the time being. I did notice something interesting with the Arena War Taxi - it's now referred to as "Taxi Custom" in the car list, and now shows up with a taxi icon on the minimap.

Last time I drove someone in a cab I had to stop for gas. I stepped away for a second and the gas pump mysteriously exploded. 💣

@CaliMeatWagon To answer your question, you simply continue from one customer to another. You do them back to back. Much like Taxi Service in GTA SA.

 

I believe the customers are picked from the nearest location as well. Owning a personal Taxi (which would be available for purchase OR you can have your Arena War Taxi) allows you to start the Taxi Work from anywhere you like. Without having to drive all the way to Downtown Cab Co. location. The advantage is that you could start near the Airport and maybe deliver customers to the middle of the city. Since the game seems to pick a delivery location, at maximum, two miles away.

 

At 10 fares, you receive the following message:

Are there different conditions that can affect the tip? I'm guessing crashing, but what about speed?

You know what's always bugged me about V's taxi? The awful engine sound. The vehicle audio engineer(s) who did sounds back when V was getting developed made some really bizarre decisions, like giving the Stanier and its variants a V6 sound... except the Taxi, which sounds like it has a 4-cylinder for some reason. GTA IV's Taxi and Police Cruiser weren't perfect, but at least sounded like they were V8 powered.

 

 

I wish Rockstar would give us improved engine sounds from time to time. I think the only time they've ever changed any engine sounds was when the PS4/XB1/PC versions came out... and some vehicles like the Duneloader and Voodoo just ended up sounding worse.

Would be cool if they made an Uber type feature where you can use any car you own as a taxi after registering like you would a CEO. I would make my own little custom Uber fleet garage.

As it currently stands, it's the Dynasty, Broadway and Eudora. The Taxi (and the "custom" one) cannot be stored, as they're both still blacklisted.

Taxi Missions...Drive from a to b...after 10 years....wow their laziness for GTA online is hard to describe...

 

I know everybody wanted the good old Police/medic/Taxi Missions but its way too late....

Maybe having missions like Bunker Ammunation Delivery or Office Mixed Goods, but you get some shady important people or smugglers, which might get police attention (unmarked cruisers), or being chased by some rivals. Although, the rivals should be toned down a bit, the crazy merryweather or some street racers would tear your taxi into pieces. Sometimes you should use an unmarked "taxi" or specific car (like an Armored Schafter or Baller).

This would even BE more boring and uncreative.

 

90% of Missions you are getting chased by npcs or cops. 

 

Make us race against the clock at least.

You get 100k, the whole lobby is notified, and you have 7 minutes to go from LSIA to Paleto. Each crash decreases $1000.

The Custom taxi has performance upgrades and is faster than the regular Taxi. I did some tests on the highway and the normal taxi had a top speed of 102.5 MPH and the Custom version 109.5 MPH. There are also differences in acceleration, not just top speed, you can hear the sound of the turbo from the custom version here, at 11:05:

Thank you for the correction!  Good to know that the AW Taxi will have some use (although it's typical Rockstar logic that the taxi liveries for other vehicles won't allow them to be used in taxi missions)

No problem. I did some Taxi Work and I can say that it is well worth having a Taxi Custom from all points of view compared to the normal one. The only downside may be the way it looks for some people but I find it funny.
