Best bit of news in a while. The app being replaced with a proper form on thier site is great news, would be better if it was in-game, but I'm not going to be picky.

Btw this surely goes back to this Tez post about a page name titled "the-garage" on Rockstar's site that leaked for a bit in February.

First one is self-explanatory. Second one is pretty interesting, either an alternative to iFruit or, as @WildBrick142 suggests, a new page for showcasing all the new customization and new vehicles ...etc. I'm leaning towards the latter. Anyhow, Rockstar doing this two weeks ago should mean we are closer to the next reveal of E&E. Maybe tomorrow or on Monday?

 

Also, Rockstar sent out the player surveys two weeks ago, an interesting coincidence.

I noticed that sub page alongside the new "Credits" page were added back in January. Rockstar must have been planning to discontinue iFruit since E&E release.

 

But of course, the Credits page kept being under construction until it went live in September. So, I am not surprised the "the-garage" page is taking this long as well.

What? Just because they're discontinuing an app that was already broken, when so many people already have custom licence plates anyway (probably couldn't even lock that down legally)? I know you people love your conspiracy theories but come on lol. They're probably just turning the app's features into a page on Social Club because the app was completely f*cked, nothing to do with GTA+.  

 

If they make plate changes *free* with GTA+ that's another story, could happen, could not.

I sure hope they do not it would be more reasonable just to pay with in game cash for it and it would be really sad for players who already have custom lp if they took it from them

Hopefully they have learned their lesson and won't lock any future game mechanic behind an app anymore, now Chop will be unhappy and won't make no more tricks forever.

You have to keep in mind that they are not the first company that did this like having an app linked to a game is not easy for example EA did the same thing with need for speed and the overwatch app and they proceeded to also shut it down

Then don't make something like this anymore, make everything available in game, why make simple things harder than they need to be?

The game was released 2013, thats why they are discontinuing the app and making it in a website

Personally I just hope that the new method for obtaining custom plates will suport spacebars, or that at least it will be as easy to "hack" as a custom crew colour.

These kinds of mobile apps were more of a fad and a gimmick of its time, it's not really a thing that works as well anymore these days, and R* doesn't really have the mobile development resources to keep up something like it. The features iFruit offered had no reason to not be directly in the game or a Social Club website anyway, the latter is a perfectly acceptable way of doing it although I'd personally prefer the former in a future update.

iFruit is exactly the kind of tool that reminds the customer that his product is ready to use and that it will provide him with added value in terms of services.
