The Los Santos Summer Special in 2020 is the only update as far as I can tell that got its trailer a day after the update released (lmao)

I do think as I've mentioned a few times that everyone should be prepared for the scope of these updates to start decreasing a little bit as time goes, and this being a two-parter (if it's a physical two-parter, two updates) could even be a part of them splitting work to focus on GTA VI and/or even changing the schedule for GTA Online updates due to VI being announced and the start of marketing at some point. Not that GTAO updates would *stop*, just *change*.

Oh jeez no, part 2 wouldn't be coming out next December lmao, we'd probably be looking at a couple months or so, like the old Spring DLC's. Ill-Gotten Gains Part 2 still came out on Xbox 360 and PS3 but it was the last one so I think last gen might get Part 2 but it'll be the last one. The big drug war that explodes the consoles.

I know this is a Certified Retro_Casuality Post(tm) but as I mentioned I truly wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing characters crossing over between both games. Considering this update was already in development when the leaks happened, imagine they had Jason in it somehow ,or even referenced, and no one would've known  had it not been for the leaks of course.

DLC drops on Tuesday, not tomorrow. We have had countless DLC's with launch trailers only, not all, but quite a few. Nothing worrying. Given everyone seems to be up-in-arms about the marketing for this update, for all we know they could be doing more different things and posting more stuff tomorrow, despite some not expecting it.

The anticipation, hype and discussion before GTAO updates is almost more exciting/entertaining than the updates themselves.

Not to be a pessimist but per the recent convos I think we should at least consider this multi-part update's gonna be one normally sized DLC split into two parts. With VI upcoming and less dev resources working on V, plus the knowledge that they're wanting to extend the dripfeed as long as humanly possible like with the last update, I'm gonna set my expectations lower. I think we'll get what seems like half of a December DLC on Tuesday, a bridge of normal dripfeed for a couple months, and another half in February or March or something. And ofc set hopes a bit higher than that

I mean if you wanna tamper your expectations sure but the way Rockstar's described this update pretty much says we're getting the usual massive winter update in two days and then a second part (which could be medium sized for all we know) coming somewhere down the line. What I don't see happening is two mid sized updates, especially during the end of the year season.

because
there is such a belief or custom
that if it comes out exclusive of next gen they complain
but if it comes out in old gen
they complain too

I'm tired of that or people are too stingy to buy a next gen console or whatnot

I think we're looking at March for the absolute latest the second part can come out. Perhaps April even but definitely no later than that.

Let's agree to disagree. I'd be very pleasantly surprised if that were the case, and truly I hope it does, but trusting Rockstar's marketing especially for GTA DLC's is something I've almost always ended up disappointed from in the past. Id just rather not you know lol

Honestly speaking. I'll barely be able to buy the "business" part of this update off rip. So it' ll be cool knowing what thie business is bare-bones, no upgrades. I typically do this with most businesses and vehicles.

I mean if you're using this summer's update for comparison that's not very accurate. There was barely any new content this summer, it was largely a quality of life update if we're being real so it made sense for R* to extend the drip feed like that. Hell, the update barely had any meat at launch, more than half of it was locked away behind drip feed.

 

If the last few winter updates (and just updates in general) are anything to go by, we should be just fine.

Yea but this is the first two part story update for GTA Online so I'm thinking they'll change things up now, especially with the rumoured dwindling down of support (update wise) for PS4 & Xbox One.

New update releasing Tuesday around 5 AM EST and trailer releasing later between 8 and 10 AM EST.

Oh god, it will feel nostalgic if Rockstar plans to release new updates every few months. 2015/16 was a fun time for GTAO, loved how consistent the updates were.

What a dumb take, its not our fault the stocks are so small.
Ive been trying to get a PS5 at MSRP (im not gonna reward scalpers) for over a year now. Between the shops receiveing less than 10 every other random month or the preorder being bought up the literal second they go up, i have yet to be able to get my own. That has nothing to do with being stingy for most people.

So ofc if they cut off support for the platform knowing this is still an ongoing issue for many people, it will get people upset.

As someone who has a PS5, I still play the GTA4 game, because some of my friends are on the PS4 and won't transfer until all of them are on the new system, it would be hard if start to move more towards the new system, that's what I did when the PS4 and Xbox One copies came out, played it until they stop giving them the updates, but those were the times, the wild west of GTA Online

Even then, it’s not being stingy because 500+ is not a small chunk of change. That’s bill money, rent money, grocery money. A new console is a luxury, one that the average person really can’t afford in this economy, even if they actually do end up getting one. That’s on top of scalping, chip shortages and supply chain issues.

 

Eventually the old consoles gotta get pushed to the side for the new ones, which no one should reasonably object to. But the blame is certainly not on “stingy” people holding out on new consoles.

This sounds like a possibility. Maybe it was originally just one part with him in it, and they had to rework a lot because of the leak, forcing it to have 2 parts. So maybe now he's no longer in it, or appears later in part 2, closer to a GTA6 unveiling.

I was lucky I've got my PS5 last year, I've been struggling to get one and I finally got one thanks for my dad looking out for it and helped get one for my brother too i think, I dunno tbh, been a good while since then, but I've paid for mine, but my brothers dad bought the other one, just you have to be lucky at times, but it is all about time tbh, also there are people who still don't have the PS4 and Xbox One and are still on the PS3 and the 360 after nearly 10 years of PS4 and Xbox One being out because they cannot afford them or had a change to buy them, but I don't wanna say much, but I leave it here then

Why would R* waste the opportunity of go a shortcut and having a great excuse to "skip" summer update with a new theme? Specially when we are getting drip feed content as we are getting lately. Skipping weeks of vehicles release, etc. I don't see why would be so far-fetched R* gives us part 2 just in summer.

Well, not everyone swims in money. I don't even know a price of a PS5 (checking on google...please wait) 499 euros in my country. LMAO! That's almost half of a minimum wage here.

 

But the main complain for those who want to old gen cease to get updated is due the belief that DLC's potential is being held for being able to running on old gen.

Bc they wouldn't advertise this update as a two part story or even have them be related if they intended to drop the second part a whole seven or more months later.

 

 

Clearly they intend to let us experience both parts not too relatively far apart from one another. Bringing the drip feed of the summer update into this is irrelevant, that was barely an update as much as it was a patch to the game so obviously R* dragged out the drip feed as much as they humanly could. 

 

This is an entirely different scope of an update and even for Rockstar, it would literally be asinine bringing the second part to the update all the way in summer

 

I don't even think they'll be two separate title updates btw, they're calling the first part the first dose so the second part is probably called the second dose. That does not sound like two separate updates to me but moreso the second dose being drip fed a few weeks/a month after the first dose.
