Do the Cayo Perico setup missions persist between play sessions?

I finally got a Kosatka, and after finishing the Cayo Perico intel mission, I returned to LS and logged out for a while (Pavel said I could come back whenever to continue). Upon logging back in a few hrs later, I noticed that I have to do the intro Intel mission all over again. Is that right, or did something go sideways?

Stupid question, but you did try going right to the Preps tab in the control centre, right? It should work perfectly between playsessions.

The control center (planning screen, right?) only offers the first tab, "Intel", with the only option being the Gather Intel mission. The other two tabs show as locked.

 

Maybe there was an issue saving or something when I exited the last time. I've been seeing frequent "Saving failed. Cannot connect to Rockstar servers" messages in the lower left corner recently.  Anyway, thanks for the clarification SV, I'll give it another go.

Derp, yes, planning screen, it's far too late here and my brain has shut down.  

 

Damn, then that would unfortunately, most likely be the issue. Personally not been having any saving issues (PC) but be sure your game saves properly after you do preps, you can force saves by e.g. changing outfits. Look for the yellow spinny wheel in the bottom right corner.

Sounds like the game just didn't save prior to your logging off.  Best thing to do is, after doing anything, but especially after scoping out Cayo, is in the Interaction Menu, under Style, change your outfit (and change it back again if you want), which should force a save.  It's a habit that I've pretty much forced myself to get into ever since a friend's first time trying Cayo ended similarly (he had to scope out the initial mission, not once, not twice, but three times, as he closed the game before it would save after each scope out!).

FWIW "Exit to Menu" does not save Online, so either exit to SP via wheel or force a save with an outfit selection as said

on ps5 it happen to me that finished prep missions vanished when I logged in on another day and all had to be started from the beginning, so yes, this is possible, but probably it is an unintentional bug like many others in the game

I think this has become an issue as I was about to ask something similar, I scoped the island and stole the Longfin and the Cutting Torch before going to my bed bo's and upon awakening from my slumber the next day - I had to steal the Longfin and Cutting Torch again, I always thought the game saved when you returned to the Kosatka as I've never encountered it before - so yes, change clothing after collecting equipment for now.
