tbh I wouldn't mind...

 

We could have the game by the end of next year and play the campaign, explore the game and everything it has to offer and then after a while we get a story DLC.... I honestly would not mind

The only things that he got from his source were the internal deadline and that most of the staff are apparently working at the offices again. The rest were his personal speculations and he literally said so. But of course that won't stop people from spreading it like it came straight from Rockstar's mouth or something. I haven't clicked on that post yet but I'm guessing the replies are filled with nothing but "OMG THEY'RE GONNA MAKE US PAY FOR PARTS OF THE GAME AFTER WE'VE ALREADY PAID FULL PRICE" or some dumb sh*t like that.

I think the same, I'm more of enjoying a game completely than halfway and rushed, of which I'm not a big fan of that kind of thing because they're still perhaps the typical jackpots that shamelessly want to drink your money through DLCS and have to cut content along the way, I still think that the DLCS did a lot but seriously, a lot of damage to the video game industry, something that should not have existed although there are those who perhaps with those things well done and at the right time not there would be so many problems as well as complaints.

But I insist that I have never liked that, but that is already the opinion of the people and I have little to do there.

Yh thats what i said, the deadline he got from someone. The rest is indeed speculation, and are you honestly still surprised after yeeaaars of GTA6 wait people spread it like Rockstar said it?

Some dangerous claims being made out of speculation based on hearsay. Of course by the typical clickbait websites or people who cannot read. I don't even think this is worth much of a discussion but the stupid rumour mill has already been started so  

 

"Cutting content" doesn't mean an incomplete game, every game you've ever played has cut content due to production limitations or delays, including all GTA games, RDR2, etc. This doesn't mean much at all, R* has been working on GTA VI for a good while, rumoured "reboots" or not. It's been said 100 thousand times that the rumoured scope changes were most likely around removing South America bits and focusing on VC, etc. which would be just fine by me as they can do a lot with a large Vice City map, lots of new mechanics and features, a new story, etc.

 

GTA IV was gonna have an entire countryside and a developer's portfolio from back then even has the original concept. Oh no, GTA IV was cut back, bad game! /s

Actually I was thinking about story DLC and I remember those rumors that the game development was rebooted in 2019/2020 and possibly the general concept of the game was also changed. At first it was supposed to be 70s/80s cocaine cowboys-style story, but they decided to focus on modern day story and world (we all know why) instead. So maybe they're going to release some story DLC set in the past, based on the scrapped GTA VI concept?

Not that it means that much, but I can confirm the bit about R* forcing some devs to return to office, because it happened one week after the big leak (which shouldn't be shocking). They were understandably very pissed, and felt like WFH was a privilege, so when the leak happened it was like "alright, guess you can't be trusted, get back in here" because obviously preventing the risk of more leaks happening as they get further along in development outweighed giving employees more freedom. I haven't actually heard yet of it causing any significant issues

This is not true at least for most disciplines, specific ones I can't say. I do believe R*'s UK studios currently employ a model some other companies are employing (unfortunately not fully flexible but), you're allowed X days wfh/choice and X days in-office per week, but I do believe this is recent and not since the leaks.

Plus, and this applies to every company on Earth, WFH making leaks worse is a managerial excuse to send people back to the office so employees can be micro-controlled - 2020 and 2021 went through just fine without leaks from most gaming companies.

First of all, there were zero credible rumours stating that the game was set in 70s/80s. The original Project Americas report neither specified the time period the game was set in nor said that it was about drug running. It was people adding two and two on their own (Miami + South America = DRUGS!), which isn't exactly unreasonable as the hosts did that in that video as well, plus a plethora of fake leaks all around.

 

Even in early 2021, we were seeing those sh*tty leaks, where in reality, R* was not at all making anything similar, as seen from the dates the leaked clips were captured. If they actually were planning for anything like that, it was aborted way before 2018-'19, when the full development truly started.

 

And there is basically no chance of a DLC set 40-50 years before the main game, because firstly, that'll require a herculean amount of effort from R* for a mere DLC, and they wouldn't even be able to properly integrate it with GTAO, which will certainly be set in the present time. Any map expansion, story/online DLC will absolutely be set in the same period as the base game.

For large companies it really doesn’t matter if they’re WFH or in the office because they need to communicate constantly with people in other studios in other parts of the world so you’re gonna need a third party servicr for communication anyway. For single studio companies WFH would be a bad choice, but then again if you’re a small company you probably don’t face that many cyber security related threats anyway so like you said, WFH being bad is pretty much just used by managers who feel like they’ve hired dishonest people that just sit around all day when they’re at home.

The face on managers when tasks still appear done on Jira (or producers even report higher productivity) and similar when devs are WFH, who would have thought that some (yes, not everyone, which is why choice should be a thing) can indeed be more productive when in the comfort of their homes, whilst still being able to communicate with people in the office and partake in meetings, etc.

You're not wrong, those are just speculations. And if they were working on a game set in the past but changed the general concept in the middle of development the real question is - how much was done in all those years? Twitter user Gaming Detective claims that the game was ready in 70%. If that's true it is hard to believe that wasted few years and a lot of time and money on a project that was entirely scrapped. Of course those are only speculations - but if that's true, they might be trying to create story expension set in the past made with the assets of early GTA VI concept.
