Wonder why take two hasn't bought www.gta6.com yet.

They are waiting for the very last minute imo.

AFAIK gta5.com was bought only a couple of months prior to release

Till the 4th of August, 2012 it was a fan-made page

I've seen this before and I was thinking that the choices we make in the 80s part of the game will reflect on how the city will look like in modern day VC. But it can also be applied to present day setting. I guess we just have to wait and see...

What choices? The characters aren't alive in the 80s. Do you think we are going to have a generational GTA? that would be kinda cool now that I write it out

Oh, sorry. I should clarify: I meant in the same map/city. Like TLaD & TBoGT. Just Vice City & Florida, but set in the 80's.

That's possible, but still, it's hard to pull off, especially at the level of detail Rockstar shoots for. Honestly, TLaD and TBoGT pretty much had the exact same as IV except for a few new buildings and interiors, identical NPC models and dialogue, and a handful of new cars and songs, whereas going back to the 80s would almost be like making a new game. I'd love to see it, but it doesn't seem realistic for something that'll be hard to integrate into online.

What I could see them doing is making something like EFLC but set in the present with a new map that they can integrate into online easily.

To me, it always seemed like more immediate changes, like terrorising a neighbourhood and making it worse over time or helping another for the better.

I mean 80s part would have different protagonist(s) than modern day setting. It's obvious that Jason and Lucia are in their 20s-early 30s, however they can be kids of protagonists/characters from 80s part of the game.

Because modern day Miami is not as interesting as it used to be in the 80s, escpecially if we think about crime. Besides, 80s nostalgia and original Vice City vibes are something that many of us love.

You’re obviously one of those people who watches too much TV , Miami isn’t any different now than it was in the 80s as far as the crime underworld is concerned , it’s just no longer relevant in pop culture

Could be, personally I thought that (for example) if you decide to wipe out gang A from neighbourhood X (which was very poor in the 80s era), in the modern day VC it's going to be a rich neighbourhood. However if you decide to spare them, the same place will still be a gang-infested sh*thole in modern day era.

The map design will be significantly different, also costing valuable development resources, they'd better just make a prologue about it.

I know they won't do this with 6, but I'd love a GTA about one criminals life, where each city is a different era (like say the 60's to now) and the game is kinda like you are going through someone's memory.

The writing in that patent doesn't really point in that direction, though. Any change from the 1980s to the 2020s will be like flipping a switch-instant, 40 years later kinda stuff, not a slow, gradual change where the engine loads appropriate assets in real time to show what kind of changes occurred due to your actions in the world, which is only possible within a single time period.

Totally get it, but I don't 100% agree, for Rockstar. They could do it. I just don't think they would. It's really a fantasy wish, for it to happen. One big single player expansion.

Is there a particular reason www.gta6.com vs www.gtaVI.com would return different responses when trying to access them? :D Might just be a thing with how my ISP handles addresses, but why would they return a different response?

Because only gtavi.com is owned by Take-Two, the other isn't and is redirecting to a different server (not to mention R* don't even use OVH). Those two domains are not the same/don't translate to the same. :p

Why everything has to be integrated into online? RDRII is a perfect proof, that single-player games can do more than very well.

You seriously think they'll ever make a proper map expansion that they can't integrate into GTAO easily? RDR2 never received a map expansion. If it did, you bet your ass they would've worked on it with online in mind. And VI will have a full-fledged single-player as well. Nothing's really changing on that front.

Well, it depends how big. GTA Online is supposed to be its own thing and SP mode can also be its own thing. If Rockstar would make some small period piece DLC they wouldn't have to implement it in GTA Online right away or even at all. I really don't like idea, that Rockstar can't now do something for SP because of Online.

I understand what you're saying, but from the last 10 years, it's abundantly clear that Rockstar isn't really a big fan of single-player expansions. Given a choice, they'll always go for their next project. GTAO is its own thing, but it's also intrinsically related to the base game, so any post-launch support will always keep both in mind.

A period-piece expansion is practically impossible in pretty much every way. There's no chance of them spending the amount of resources required to make something like that just for a mere expansion, which at best will cost $40. If they wanted to do one, they'd make a completely separate game, not an expansion. It's not about "they can't do it". It's "they won't do it". Even without taking GTAO into account, it was never realistic.
