Honestly, I'd love to see a sequel/reboot of L.A. Noire developed on the RAGE (engine), set in 70s New York or 60s San Francisco or wherever. The downsides are that VGD is way too small for a brand-new AAA project; they'd need to hire like crazy for that, and Rockstar wouldn't let a third-party studio work with RAGE. Alternatively, they could simply allow them to work on whatever engine they want (similar to Remedy's Max Payne remakes), but again, they'd still need to hire a large number of people for that to happen.

 

I’d love to see an LA Noire sequel. But personally I would prefer if there were no more reboots of anything, unless there’s a good reason for it. Like with the Christopher Nolan ‘Batman’ - the Tim Burton series was done in a unique style, it had played itself out and the IP had been dormant for a while. The Nolan films explored the story in a new way and redefined the character. But in most cases these remakes are just like a band releasing the same greatest hits album over and over again. I think remasters are ok as long as they’re not being done by the wrong developers  (like a cheap mobile game company for example), since they give gamers the chance to experience older classics on the newest technology.  But I’d much rather have a new original game instead of one I already played

Car maintenance is maybe a step too far but car refueling if done properly can be nice.

I've believed for a long time there should be two modes you can play on;

 

Classic GTA: How it is now, unlimited weapon storage, no fuel/food/etc, normal health

 

Hardcore GTA: Car fuel, limited weapon carrying, take more damage, require food/medical supplies to heal

 

Would satisfy both groups and you can even have it where you can toggle specific settings, like if you wanna play classic GTA but want to take realistic damage

In hindsight, reboot wasn't a good word for it, but spiritual successor is apt. It'll be entirely standalone with little to no connection to L.A. Noire, pretty much like how Red Dead Redemption was to Red Dead Revolver (although R* most likely would've made a western anyway, even without the Red Dead IP in their hands).

 

A private investigator protagonist would be a great choice to radically open up the gameplay possibilities. An honor system like Red Dead could also be present to determine how crooked or ethical you are. Narrative choices, like whether to help criminals for money or not, (maybe rob a bank with the criminals then send a tip to the cops), framing an innocent guy for something, blackmailing someone, killing someone for vigilante justice, or doing everything the straight way, etc., will also affect the outcomes of cases and the overarching narrative.

What I liked about RDR 2 is that your actions in open world have direct consequences in your gameplay and doing something required some planning.

Same goes for situation you listed, you just need to plan to refuel your vehicle before atrracting police attention on you (plan in advance), if you have fuel you are fine, If you forgot to refuel or just had little fuel your game automatically becomes more interesting as every same situation can play out differently. For example you ran out of fuel mid chase and you need to do something (or you are running out of it) - you can abandon your car and run on foot, try to shoot the cops and refuel your car with fuel tank or jack other car from the street or in case you have little fuel you can try to run for gas station - this way gameplay is much more interesting.

Also the fueling mechanic doesnt need to be very invasive, I would say that 1 hour of driving on full fuel tank will be optimal.

It's like the footage is test footage, kind of like it wasn't meant to be seen by the public or something. Just a hunch though.

the PS6 and the next XBOX counterparts could arrive as early as 2026.

 

Anybody still thinking the game might be released on PS4 please check yourself in somewhere immediately.

 

What I think that means is essentially they are in no hurry to get the game out (as you might have noticed)

 

They are thinking long term here. They won't want to release a game that will be sub-par for the next generation of consoles.

 

In other words, I think it's almost safe to say, especially considering what the next GTA Online is going to be, they are developing the game for next gen consoles, but it will be playable on current gen, that being PS5 etc.

I am not a fan of them talking because to me it imposes a certain personality on them that I might not want, but I always thought it should be an option for those who want it.

Theoretically yes they’re thinking also for nextgen. It’s been 6/7 years between PS3 and PS4 and then between PS4 and PS5.

But the PS5 has been released while pandemic and had a big sales problems for 2 years, so it could last up until 2028 to recover those years…
