There's only two times I can think of that a conference mattered in terms of breadcrumbs of info:

1. our own admin Kirsty, on one of our old news sites, noticed that Take-Two expected a large increase in net income per share in their August 2011 report, and T2 themselves said they had "some unannounced titles (...) that we will hear about in the 'coming months'" - GTA V was announced in October 2011
2. in May 2016, they explicitly said that Rockstar Games was working on exciting new projects to be announced soon - RDR2 was announced in October 2016

Other than that there hasn't been much, it's not common for statements like these to be made.

What's happening, is everyone is waiting for it to happen again, and then it will be a "see, I told you so!" moment. Conveniently forgetting every other time nothing happened.

Although, it is still possible and likely will happen at some point. Just never lose sight of reality. Nothing is happening tonight. At best Strauss makes a comment on "not commenting on Rockstar's behalf". What's much more likely is what happened with RDR2, "Rockstar has unannounced titles coming soon". Key phrase there... much more likely. A 10% chance is much more likely than a 0% chance.

First of all it was plenty of months ago and a lot could be done in that time and second of all debugging clips are not representative of what is actually finished and is in the game so I wouldn’t use them to make such judgements

The leaks are development footage, not the state of the final game. We don’t have an exact idea of how far along Rockstar is with the development of GTA 6. It would be wrong to calculate the reveal based on the leaked footage. As I said, we have no clue.

It's quite funny, as far as that codename goes. "Americas" was first "confirmed" all the way back with RDR2's PS4/Xbox One files, with a mention they left over of it, then patched out - though at the time we could only speculate. It was just a comment in a stats file, but it clearly looks like they reused that file for GTA VI stuff (or reused a GTA VI file for RDR2 stuff). Because of the way Rockstar's current patching system works, you can still see these files on PC if you have OpenIV by going to:

common_0.rpf\data\stats_and_challenges\stats_sp.meta - end of the file.

 

 

At the time we could only speculate and connect it to the Project Americas thing, now we actually know what that was  Obviously there was no content under that line but someone forgot to remove that divider mentioning another project name.

I remember that story. I also remember there were mentions of guns that apparently were in no other Rockstar game? Or was that debunked?

If they make it completely separate from GTA 5 online then I hope that they atleast include businesses at launch.

Take two expect a 14% income by fiscal year 2024.which is hard to achieve, but only if they released VI.
