Why wouldn't they? It's a PR piece first and foremost. Publicly saying the opposite wouldn't have been a good look for Rockstar.

 

The leak absolutely messed up their workflow for at least a short while, and all of that could easily prompt them to delay it internally. They can easily deny doing that as well since there isn't a set release date yet. Simply put, nobody here has any real idea of exactly how much of their operation was compromised.

At most a week or two, but not significant enough for us to notice a delay. Meetings on phishing and safety, changing a bunch of passwords, etc.

Here's the thing: Nobody knows if anything else went wrong in the process, and perhaps we'll never know. That's why I'm not confident at all. They might also think about modifying the source code to some extent as well, solely for security reasons, even though there's no evidence of VI's source code being out there. We do know that some of V's source code was stolen in the hack, which Rockstar never acknowledged publicly for obvious reasons.

What could have gone wrong? The code wasn't leaked, the leak is from a slack channel.

Let's remember that T2 is a public company, so if they straight up lie about something that has a material financial impact on their companies, they can be held liable.  And you better believe that there are whole companies out there dedicated to catching big companies lying to investors.

That's the thing. Nobody here knows anything about what's happening at R*. We can only make a few guesses from the information we have.

They didn't lie at all. Anything could change at any time, and they said that accordingly in the Form 8-K filing:

Yeah companies can toe the line to a certain point, and all reports/wording would be carefully constructed and reviewed by legal representatives prior to submission.

Those are my predictions for this year:

 

1. RDO being less and less important for them, perhaps even ending its monthly events eventually.

 

2. Expanded and Enhanced releasing for PC alongside another small update for GTA Online on july.

 

3. GTA 6's proper announcement with logo and trailer between august and november.

Considering the game is a at least a few years away, I don't think the leaks actually impacted much at all in terms of a reveal or marketing.

Of course not, but i think it could have had an impact on their choices in terms of flexibility, there may have been some aspects of the game that weren't set in stone or were going to get cut, but now they'll have to think twice about it because the cat is out of the bag so to speak lol 

 

Not to mention the fact that it could have seriously hurt their plans for a reveal trailer, i think if anything had to be altered or rethought due to the leak, it was probably the reveal trailer.  I don't think it's a big deal or anything, but i think it was silly for a person to question whether or not someone from a corporation would like about whether or not a leak hurt them in any way, representatives from corporations will lie like you and i breathe.

They can cut what we saw because it wasn't showed officialy or even talked about, LEAKS are LEAKS, you can't cry and start a lawsuit because you saw something in a leak that isn't in the game at release

Of course not, but it doesn't mean it won't have any weight on their decision making when it comes to whether or not something gets cut or altered, i can't say it absolutely would, just like you can't say it absolutely wouldn't lol

This is one of those situations where people are arguing and facts get muddied up. It was never a "yearly tradition". But for 3 years in a row, at the same time of the year, Rockstar Games DID put out a form of community update, for GTA Online. There was no guarantee it would happen. But there was good reason to suspect they may have done a fourth one. But no, it's not a yearly tradition. Although after 3 in a row, you can't criticize those who thought it may happen again.

Tbh they could still post a community update any time this or next month, or whenever they want really. It's not really something that's bound to the investor calls (though I don't see them posting one out of the blue cuz well R* is still stubborn af )

Yeah, also the question wasn't about when is the game coming, but if the leaks would hurt them gainings instead. The investors don't care about the products per se, they're about the economic performance.

What if they know that the stocks are going to go down but they are not 100% sure and they are saving the comunity update in case if they actually go down.

If anything they may have changed the reveal trailer, like you said, and will focus a little more on the protagonists because we already know who they are now.

Two times out of 3 happened in February, not to mention at least one was because of the community throwing sh*t at them so they responded back.
You can take a lot of behaviors from Rockstar and call them modus operandi (like the habit of announcing games Q4 of the solar years) but not these "community updates", I'm not criticizing the idea of thinking it would happen again, I'm criticizing the idea of spreading misinformation
