Some people are acting here like almost whole game has leaked while in reality nothing story related was revealed by teapot except names of some world events... Not to even mention, that none of us has seen final version of Lucia/Jason...

even if that was the case, i couldn't defend rockstar changing the entire plot (if they think what they currently have is the best, then deliver that vision of your project)

 

Changing the entire plot of the project in a rushing way can only make the game worse

It will be nice to look back on the leaks and compare them to the retail version especially the protagonists.

Not sure if mentioned before, but checking the tag of each leaked video reveals the CPU/GPU and name of the exe running.

 

The "Americas_1 2022-09-13 16-32-43" vid was running on "Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10980XE CPU @ 3.00GHz", "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER" and "game_win64_bankrelease.exe".

 

Whereas "Americas_1 2022-09-12 16-42-30" was running on "AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX 32-Cores", "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER" and "game_win64_bankrelease.exe".

 

There are videos running on "game_win64_beta.exe" and one vid running on "game_win64_debug.exe".

 

From my understanding, the "bankrelease" is a debug build with functionality aiming to reach "feature complete". That or could be the main debug build. While the "beta" build is sorta the same, but with extra functionality aiming to reach "content complete".

I would like if they tell us how is all going with it, who wouldn't.

 

A community update is probably after it, if there even is one. February 4th doesn't seem important to me just because it has been "exactly 1 year".

 

I don't think we will get anything about VI with a community update again until it is announced, then I am sure they will include it in their future community update articles as Red Dead and GTA Online are.

 

But it's 2023 you never know, could be announced any day, any month. Could be with a community update they drop a logo right?

From my understanding, release builds don't really contain any debugging tools (in most cases, debugging tools affect performance and bloats the build). Considering there were some levels of debugging in these builds shows you might be right when you say "bankrelease" is a type of debugging build, but probably with minimal debugging.

 

Although this was kind of a given, the videos that show builds running on a beta exe kind of confirms the game is in beta (some people thought it was still in alpha). That's pretty big considering the cycle from beta to release/production isn't that far off

The "beta" exe doesn't mean the game itself is in the "beta" phase we are familiar with. All the recent videos ran on the "bankrelease" build.

 

The build names go back to the "AGE" engine, the previous iteration of the RAGE engine, developed for Rockstar San Diego titles prior to GTA IV.

 

Think of the "bankrelease" build as the main debug build. And the "beta" build is also a debug build, but aimed towards filling the game with content.

Those are just build targets/types they set in their VS solution at compile time. "beta", "bankrelease", "debug", and so on which will have different feature sets and in some cases parts of code. Debug would be builds with the highest amount of logging, profiling, and so on, and also the slowest - not meant for performance testing but rather deep diving into issues and so on.

 

"Bankrelease" has always been an interesting one to me, I think those builds are kind of a 'last stable' state and "bank" could be in reference to "bank holidays", not literally, but maybe like a "last stable" build they have every Monday/Friday or something, no clue but it's interesting naming.
