It's Rockstar we're talking about here. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they did that.

it would be a waste of resources and manpower. th leaked footage contained vital info for the game and thousands of side events. The most theyll do is alter some of it but omitting it just because  it was seen 2 yrs prior to release? unrealistic imho

I wouldn't be surprised if R* went through the effort to completely remove some of the specific missions, scenarios and the bits of dialogue that we've seen and heard from the final game. Something like the diner robbery could just be a test scenario, but that's a different question entirely.

I would actually put the diner scene in one of the trailers just to show the progress.

What do you guys think "well underway" means in Rockstar's terms :kekw: soon 2.0?

Even the reaction to that whole "next gta is smaller scaled" thing we've heard in July should tell you everything you need to know about this particular question, it was overly negative and people do not want anything small from Rockstar anymore, they want every game to be bigger than the last, and they also somehow want all of this frequently, it's comical how ironic this thinking is.

That's because it's GTA, Rockstar's flagship series. There's plenty of space for smaller scaled game in Rockstar's lineup and I'm sure, that people would love it.

7 hours ago, Zapper said:

The only suitable candidate is Bully 2, but even then, Rockstar wanted every single interior to be unique and enterable, even back in 2009, so that game also wouldn't be anything truly small either. Those games would require a minimum of 2.5-3 years in full production, if not more.

Looks like many people don't understand, that Rockstar wasn't creating those smaller scaled games for the sake of it, each of them still had to be innovative and push the boundaries in that way or another.

It's been almost a year since February 2022, it's already soon 2.0. We got to the point where bunch of songs may be removed in GTA V because of licensing issues before new GTA may be even announced, absolutely ridiculous.

Honestly, I'm not so sure about that. For the last decade or so, people have expected a very specific type of game from R*. The only exception was Max Payne 3, which underperformed commercially, although it had other reasons for that too. Even going as far back as the PS2 days, their big games have routinely outsold the smaller ones by an incredibly wide margin.

I don't recall where I've heard it, could be in an interview of some ex-Rockstar executive somewhere, but basically the gist was that Rockstar was making different types of games at a borderline impossible rate back in the PS2 days because they wanted to see what sticks and what doesn't. They knew it was unsustainable, and ever since development times started ballooning, they gradually shifted away from that setup. That was their goal all along- to take their time on each project and work on it one at a time.

Subjective, so...

Everyone will be forgetting about a lot of this pre-announcement suffering once we get the real deal anyway :sadkek: Then the "waiting for more info" suffering begins.

It's in full development, full focus. It's akin to GTA V's announcement but they don't deem it ready to show this time. Again and not to repeat the whole conversation, GTA V looked quite rough when it was first announced, I have a feeling they're just trying to show us something more decent when it's announced - like they did with RDR2.

GTA V had a logo and trailer but other than that the "announcement" was basically the same wording.

If the diner scene is part of the main story in any way, or part of how Jason and Lucia get closer or something, it wouldn't be a bad idea to show off in a trailer no.

Also massive amounts of crunch. Like, massive. Lol. It was an even bigger, endemic issue in the games industry back then, sh*tting out games this fast also meant major crunch, whether that be companies like R*, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, you name it. Didn't matter, that PS2/PS3 era was horrible for working in AAA games. No ethics, especially in countries with more "relaxed" work laws.

Thankfully in the 2010's more people started speaking out with the advent of social media, more things started to be done, and I suppose some execs started realising the hard way it's unsustainable as people will either leave because they become sick due to working so much or because they no longer want to be in an environment like that. It's still a problem in many places, but less so and there's very good progress in a lot of AAA companies these days, to the point some don't even crunch anymore.

They could still make it so it’s a long ass drive ngl. There’s planes and stuff too in these games R* make y’know

Only limitation is the size of the map and the amount of work it’d take to make something as big.

Nah, there's just a certain expectation from Rockstar right now, smaller game wouldn't be very well recelieved, and lemme tell you this, even as a company, smaller games won't be profitable for them anymore.

They want the map to be big, but not too big, but still very big, they want every interior on that big but not too big but still very big map to be very detailed, they also want every part of that big but not too big but still very big map to be interesting, they want the map to have everything, deserts, swamps, mountains, hills, cities, they want all.

I hope so.

Seriously, 2023 is really last chance for the announcement.

Time is up, and if it will again not, then definitely goodbye and goodnight R*

Gta 5 survives thanks to GtaO, but it has been squeezed to the max and the latest DLCs speak for themselves.

So, thank you V, but let the next one in!

(even if we’ll have to wait at least two years to play it)
