Would be neat if they made an AI that could make voice lines for them

Only if they used Will from afar.

I genuinely hope 2023 is a good year not just for GTA but Rockstar as a whole. I've been replaying Manhunt and it's still a horror and stealth masterpiece. And it makes me sad that I have to go back to old games rather than enjoying new stuff - because they've been so sparse in releasing or even teasing new projects. I'm cautiously optimistic for the new GTA, but God damn do I wish they'd do smaller scale stuff if the alternative is five plus years of waiting.

how will cheat codes work in GTA 6? i love messing around with cheat codes after i beat the story mode on every GTA i’ve ever played. I noticed in the leaks it said “Weapon cheat” thats what got me thinking

That'd be a neat compromise, for sure. I've said it time and again in this forum over the last few years that making smaller-scaled games between the flagship is the only way of increasing R*'s output, but the problem is that does the market actually want smaller titles from R* (like both Manhunt titles, The Warriors, or Max Payne 3)? The answer is no, and R* knows it. Whatever R* makes in the future will be open-world one way or another, and those wouldn't really be smaller-scaled by any means.

Even in VI's case, where Schreier reported it to be a moderately sized release at launch (but still huge by R*'s standards) to be expanded post-launch, I'm not sure what's what. From what we've seen from the leaks, the map is very likely larger than V's, and the number of events listed was staggeringly high, many more than RDR2's. I wonder if the moderate part was misinterpreted and the game is moderate compared to what R* originally planned, which was probably outrageously large. If we take the Axios report at face value, it was 3 cities and 4 protagonists.

Probably by entering phone numbers like we had with GTA IV and GTA V.

In V they reverted to the 3D era style of button commands. I think it’ll stay that way as people really didn’t like the way cheat codes worked in IV

You sure about that? I really thought they had cheats with the phone too.

Yeah, GTA V's cheats are still phone numbers, not button combinations.

https://www.gamesradar.com/gta-5-cheats/

On PC, they're words you can type on a cheat console, more similar to the old Trilogy games, maybe that's where the confusion came from.

Edit: Actually looks like it's everything at once :kekw: On PC, all types work I think, on consoles both phone numbers and button combinations work.

Someone tried something like that before. The resulting video graphically showed it went very wrong.

What I noiticed in the leaked clips is that some cars now have smaller trailers attached to them. Was that a thing in previous titles too, or it's something new

That is new, to my knowledge! The only trailer vehicles I've seen in the series are larger 18 wheelers.

Spoiler

Maybe boat trailers on smaller trucks? I feel like I'm misremembering this, though.

From what someone pointed out before it’s the guy doing all the talking :kekw:

I have just rewatched the clip, and judging by the debug text, it's the guy smoking. You can see it's highlighted with the same color as his name, which is blue. But I could be wrong

There's a couple lines in the debug which reference "standing", so my guess is it's the dude on the left.

You can definitely find trucks towing trailers and boats up near Paleto Bay. The funny thing is that they’re towing actual boats you can drive and not just stagnant props.

Man I remember playing VC when I was little and having a notebook page filled with cheats (as did most kids playing it at that time tbh) and just messing around in the game, never even bothering with the missions. I never completed that game. When I played GTAV for the first time 2 years ago I never even thought of looking for cheats, just played it like a normal game lol.

Pretty sure AI in storymode drive with those small two wheel trailers already though

I know you're probably right, and it's a real shame. Replaying Grand Theft Auto III, what really grabs me is how personal it feels and how it's such a love letter to classic gangster movies and the cinematic view of New York. Sure, the characters are cartoons and the violence is schlocky, but it's got so much charm and enthusiasm and humor seeping through it. And I just wish Rockstar could give us that again, rather than every game needing to be some sprawling epic.

And don't get me wrong, the big epic games? Amazing. RDR2 has one of the finest stories ever put to a video game, ascending to levels of genuine tragedy and beauty. But I miss the informality, the silliness, the personality of that older era. And it bugs me because it makes me feel like a nostalgist, when I actively want to be as excited as I can about newer games, but so much they do makes that harder and harder for me.

Do you think the leak restaurant robbery mission could be one of the first missions? When getting into the car at the top there is an inscription "Any vehicle you are seen entering will be known to the law" I think this is information that usually comes up once or twice in the early game

What do you think about this? (sorry if this has been discussed)

I know. I kinda get what you're saying. In a way, R* put themselves in a box where everyone expects their new games to be technically unmatched, dense, sprawling epics every single time. It has been like that since GTAIV, when R* started working with RAGE. Honestly, I'm not sure how a hypothetical R* game will perform commercially if it isn't scaled like modern-GTA/RDR titles, even if it's open world. AAA development times and budget increasing out of control also didn't help them. Maybe when VR becomes relatively mainstream, we could start seeing some experiential projects from them, but even then, I'm not sure.
