I don't know; it's not like you haven't seen the leaks. It's pretty much certain that the game is still at least a couple of years away. So, maybe R* intended to reveal it this year, but the leak forced them to change their marketing plans. Or, maybe they're stalling the reveal because they want the game to come out within a year of the initial event, essentially without public delays. Who knows?

I don't think 2 years between announcement and release is something R* ever wanted or planned. It just sort of happened. If it was properly planned, there wouldn't be any crunch issues in the final stage. RDR1 more or less followed that "1-year gap between reveal and release" schedule.

 

The biggest culprit is definitely COVID, though. I'm 100% sure it caused 12-15 months internal delays already. Back in 2020, before all went to sh*t, even Schreier expected it to come out by 2022-'23, and that guy reported it was in early development around that time.

On that note, I'm really hoping that at some point we either get a new vehicle in GTAO that can be found in the leaks, or we see a preexisting DLC vehicle from GTAO in the background of one of the shots from the reveal trailer (y'know, whenever we finally get it). I really want some definitive evidence pointing one way or the other on the backporting theory.

Well I did see a Buffalo STX, which was added in The Contract DLC, in the leak clip of Lucia standing idle at a street corner. Probably not a placeholder considering how recent that car was created but it's something to think about. As for any of the leak cars showing up in a future DLC, I have a feeling R* have seen what vehicles have leaked and are being careful not release anything that was shown. Perhaps we could've gotten the Cadillac Eldorado instead of the Eudora, but R* switched it up. I can't remember if the Service Carbine/M16 rifle was announced as a DLC weapon before the leaks came out, and we can see clearly in the leaked footage that the Service Carbine is being used.

I think next year will be the end of GTA Online updates if they announce GTA 6 by then, probably when they'll add some things promoting the game into GTA Online such as RDR2's Double-Action Revolver.

"Make War not Love" mission is kind of what I imagined gta 7 with 70s hippie story dlc will be like, drug wars/trips in the Las Venturas desert and well add the cultists too, only difference is setting, graphics and a story

Steven Ogg don't like GTA anymore, so I highly doubt it, when Rockstar says that Trevor is gone is because he'll never come back to GTA Online, GTA 6 or whatever, only expect Franklin and/or Michael to come back on GTA 6.
