Saul Goodman
This November I'm planning to upgrade my goofy ass 4 GB RAM laptop top optimize it for Valorant and Need for Speed: Heat. I don't wanna buy a new laptop that is faster because it's expensive and upgrading is cheaper if I'm correct. But what should I buy to upgrade my laptop? I don't know if I should upgrade my RAM or GPU.. which one is more important for performance? Craigsters
The latest cpu's are up to $400 or higher in price and a good gaming card well sit you back a thousand or more, ram is the cheapest to buy, but not sure if that well help, stay away from financing a build with Dell they well charge you outrageous monthly fees to build you a gaming PC Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/986496-what-should-i-buy/#findComment-1072002468 Share on other sites

yoječ
No, it will be much cheaper, don't expect it to make a collosal difference in games though (but it will improve for sure). Not knowing the exact model and specs of your laptop we can't tell what are the options for upgrading the CPU. Although given that you have only 4GBs of RAM, I'd guess that the motherboard won't accept any recent CPUs. The GPU is likely soldered to the motherboard and can't be upgraded. I'm only using a Lenovo ideapad 330 laptop with Intel Celeron N4000 CPU 1.10 GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and Intel UHD Graphics 600 (yeah I know it's bad) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/986496-what-should-i-buy/#findComment-1072002497 Share on other sites
yoječ
According to Lenovo forums, the CPU in this laptop is soldered to the board and non-replaceable. Also, it's important to note that this laptop has a single RAM slot, meaning that you can't add another 4GB stick, you'd have to replace it with a 8GB/16GB one. yoječ
You can remove your current 4GB RAM module and install a larger one, just like I said - don't expect it to make a massive performance gain, since you have a very low-end CPU and no dedicated GPU. It should help a little bit though, especially if your disk is slow (which I can only assume it is), since the OS will use swap memory on disk less often. But that's more probably going to reduce stutter than raise FPS. Is it faster than switching to 8 GB of RAM? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/986496-what-should-i-buy/#findComment-1072002760 Share on other sites

Neither is going to make your laptop much, if at all, better at playing Valorant or NFS Heat. Jason
Outside of some very niche examples, laptop's aren't typically designed to be upgraded. You can on some upgrade the RAM usually but that won't do much on it's own. My advice? If possible, save up a bit of money and go pick up an Xbox Series S. yoječ
Pretty much, but it'll occur periodically, its effect on the average FPS will be much lower. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/986496-what-should-i-buy/#findComment-1072014990 Share on other sites
