Is GTX 1070 only good for 1600x900 resolution max on ultra settings (without bad screen tearing)

I bought new 23.8 inch 1080p monitor (my previous was 1366 x 768, 19 inch). So after playing with settings i found out that my gtx 1070 only good for 1600x900 resolution on ultra settings without screen tearing when moving camera (just only one setting above my previous 1366 x 768). Is something with my card or GTX 1070 that slow un ultra settings?

My GTX 1660 Super can't run the game on full ultra at stable 60 fps either, turn off the advanced settings, have everything ultra on the main graphic options without anti-aliasing, maybe only fxaa. Also turn off GRASS QUALITY. That is not implemented well.

turn off vsync as well, but that one it depends what refresh rate is your monitor.

Also what is your CPU and RAM? Those also play a big part.

Please post your complete list of settings.

I'm guessing you turned something up too high.

A list of your PC specs would also be helpful.

There are a few settings you shouldn't use, like

  • high frame scaling (leave off),
  • 8x msaa (2/4x is plenty)
  • Don't use FXAA and TXAA at the same time. Either use one or neither.
  • any amount of reflection msaa (unless reflections are on ultra)
  • Very High or Ultra Grass (just use High to have any grass at all if you so wish)

here's a list of settings to use as starting point (not my post): https://www.reddit.com/r/OptimizedGaming/comments/r24d9h/gta_v_optimized_settings/

Intel i5 10400F , 16 gb ram.

Everything on maximum only frame scaling mode is 2\1 (2.000).

I just always played like that on my old small monitor

120 hz refresh rate (when set to 60  game stuttering)

TL;DR use 1920x1080 resolution, 2x MSAA, 3/2 (1.500) frame scaling.

Frame scaling 2/1 effectively doubles your resolution. This means the game internally renders at 3200x1800. (which is just one step below 4k) This is way too high for most setups.

If you want to use frame scaling for a sharper image, you should first and foremost set your output resolution the same as your monitor's native resolution (1920x1080), and only after that raise frame scaling for better image quality.

Using 1600*900 on a 1920*1080 monitor causes its own problems, because the monitor has to scale it back up.
