GTA Trilogy DE should have taken the TLOU Part 1 route

The Last of Us Part 1 (remake) copied the art style of TLOU Part 2 and even went to the extent of copying character models to make one consistent game.

Originally TLOU Part 1 was a PS3 game and Part 2 was released for the PS4. Part 1 was remastered with better textures and 60fps for the PS4, but the art style and the gameplay felt a decade apart. But, Naughty Dog and other studios who helped with remaking Part 1 remade it down to the tiniest details that everything was very consistent when both games are played. Except for maybe Joel and Sarah's photo.

Whenever I'm watching GTA Trilogy DE, I can't help but think that they made an excuse on retaining the games' art styles. All they had to do was update the character models to the same level of details and have the atmosphere/art style similar to past games. But, nope. Catalina from GTA SA doesn't look like GTA 3 Catalina, and so does the Ken Rosenberg's different models.

Compare that to Joel and Tommy's character models in TLOU Part 1 remake and Part 2. They look older in the latter, but comparing the remake models and their original iterations, they look more human. Everything in the GTA 3 DE looks like an upscaled simpson character, tbh.

In terms of art style, Naught Dog nailed them. TLOU Part 1 had a colorful, yet gritty vibe, whereas Part 2 emphasized more of the greys. In the Part 1 remake, everything was still colorful, even though they changed some of the color palettes for certain levels.

I'm not saying they should look like The Last of Us character models, but they should at least look consistent in terms of level of details.

They could have at least pulled off the same level-of-detail in terms of character and building models, but retain the same gritty art style for GTA 3 and colorful vibes for VC and San Andreas.

Eternal Moonshine

They literally could have grabbed Vic Vance's model from VCS and put him in VC but they didn't. The DE can be summarized with a simple "they could have but they didn't". I still can't believe that Rockstar cheaped out on the Definitive Edition. They could have outsourced it to a competent team of developers or do it in house with a designated smaller team plus some outsourcing, but they just didn't

They really rushed that project. It could have been game of the decade. But, nope. Only the graphics and some UI elements were remastered.

They could have taken their time and remade the animations. Just make them more fluid and less cartoony, but nope. They had to push them through. I bet it would have released at roughly the same time as GTA VI if they really improved on it.
