The leaker is not banned but it is very convenient for gtaf staff to not share that the leaker is forced to have new content moderated by staff before publishing. That's why he's not logging in. Even if you disagree with the leaks, it makes sense from the leaker's point of view. Why would they bother with a platform that's not letting them post their content freely without restrictions?

I suspect they would provide it with a court order but said order would forbid them from revealing they had done so. I’m no legal expert but clearly crimes were committed by the owner of the account, so I’d expect in most countries that will supersede privacy laws (not entirely sure where GTAF is hosted).

Also, it doesn't seem like the leaker is necessarily a native English speaker. He might be using "banned" as a more general term for "I'm banned from posting content there now" after his initial thread was removed? Although I don't know the details of the conversations the mods have had with him, those might be more suspicious, especially as he won't log in to even prove his identity.

Heaven forbid if there's a check to ensure he doesn't post leaked materials on GTAF given that we've been contacted by T2 to remove all leaked material.

 

He could verify it's him by logging in and he refused. It could be that he's no longer wanting to use GTAF... or it could be that it's not him using that TG account.

 

We don't know if it's the former or the latter either, but I find it sus and the post restriction thing to be a soft excuse. Given how many fakes are going around (and there's sh*t tons) you'd probably want to double verify you're still you in his shoes, either through more leaks or just... logging into GTAF.

This is how fast misinformation is being spun on this topic and why it's starting to look like a mistake.  There have been multiple references to the fact that he's said this on Telegram, we don't have "conversations" with him, we know nothing about him!

No problem but everyone needs to be careful with this stuff. I have taken the liberty to edit Kirsty's post to add context, clarifying what some of us have said a few times now - there are people from the R* community at large on that Telegram because they're interested or believe it's the real guy, so obviously the info circulates and we know about it. We know nothing about the guy or the contents of the group ourselves until someone shows it here or elsewhere, I don't even use Telegram

Definitely, I've tried to stick to only the known things but everything about that telegram group has been an absolute mess of disinformation.

Could it be that he's posting from a new range and doesn't want his IP/device/location/browser to be logged? Even if he had proxies, I'm sure the authorities could file a court order to see usage logs from his ISP.

If he has two brain cells, he's on Tor or at the very least in a McDonald's dumpster using the public WiFi while wearing a ghillie suit made of garbage. The Take2 copyright hit squad will disappear him otherwise

They exist, but it would completely ruin what little is left or when we play with our friends, because we don't know for sure what would trigger... he has autism and is known to have poor social skills. i think he would stand out a lot if he was using public wifi and if a member of the public saw him alone and clearly suffering from an illness it’s likely they would call the police to help him. which wouldn’t be good for him at all.

actually judging by the broken english and the fact that it is known that teapot is part of a largely based south american group it seems more and more likely that it is somebody part of lapsus that has access to his accounts now. but the original account was clearly fluent in english and typed grammatically correct to an extent,

I think he's gone to ground and if law enforcement are able to link him beyond doubt to this we may hear more. 

 

Somehow I doubt Rockstar or Take 2 will want to publicise this any more even if he has been caught. Especially with his age and such.
