Map Expansions Thread

I've mentioned this before, we have no idea because we're not the ones making the legal decisions about that media. In a sense it will still be unreleased, confidential copyrighted media if the trailer doesn't show those locations or actions, so I'm not sure at all how it's gonna be once the trailer drops. There's unfortunately a chance they still won't allow it, but we have to wait.

It'd certainly be very, very awkward though that's for sure. Atm we already allow *discussion* and references as those are completely impossible to control, just not the actual media.

Understand actual media isn't allowed but why are drawings of the map not allowed? it's basically fan art that's not using any "actual media".

Maybe I'm overthinking it. The leaks will have been rinsed by that point, they have been now. The point has passed where significant additions to the map are being made.

So I think really once media hits, the map as it stands can act as a good starting point to build upon. The leaks can only really discount a thought that stems from a trailer, which can be discussed.

I think it will be ok.

There's no avoiding the fact that the leaks are out there and that the mapping community - something that's always been a positive source for R* pre-release hype - will always take those leaks into account when creating the maps, even when official media is out.

I do think right now given that the only material out there right now is leaked assets that it's probably a bit too... on the nose, I suppose, for a public mapping effort right now. From a legal stand point I'm not sure T2 would be able to do anything legally if the maps were recreated by hand and didn't have any leaked assets on them, be it screenshots or minimap road layouts, but again, bit on the nose.

Personally (my opinion, not speaking on behalf of GTAF) I think once the trailer comes out and as long as people recreate the leaked minimap layouts (which I think are the only sticking point legally) then I don't think there would be a problem with the mapping community going public again.

I mean, the mapping Discord was about as subtle as a brick through the window and knowing what I know of T2/R*, I know they'll know about that Discord, and that's still up just fine. We aren't a rando Discord server who can flagrantly take the risk of course, but yea, I think once the trailer is out IMO it'll be all alright as long as no one is directly using leaked assets in the maps.

Sorry, if it has already been asked, but what does "19 GL. USA 88" stand for in the red car license plate? What state is this?

I have tried to search for any state or city with this abbreviation in real life and it does not exist, unless it is in the GTA universe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population

the only one that appears to me with a GL, but I don't think it corresponds to a state, is Glendale, Arizona.

idk if I'm just used to the Florida drivers, but I just got back from LA and they seemed way worse lol

saw a guy almost get hit on a scooter and tons of kids drifting/doing donuts in the middle of the road at night.

Do you think we will see something like this in the AI of drivers for the state of Florida in VI? I doubt that R* itself resembles or makes it very close to reality, it would be awesome to see such aggressive, reckless and crazy drivers at the wheel, I don't know if that patent related to the npcs has something to do with it as long as the traffic on the roads and the influx of people influence something like that.

Although we can only speculate, I think its safe to assume we'll see advanced AI driving since we've seen advanced AI cops in the leaks. Maybe we'll see random events related to racing across the map as well, lower income areas like Little Havana have random/reckless street races, while rich areas have more slow/laid back driving.

Yes, it is likely that this madness and aggressiveness is transmitted in street runners, because I imagine this xd:

And from the rich areas, it is likely, but to see what R* does, I think we will see some depth by the gameplays that go up in the game and we see something like that or discover it for ourselves.

California drivers are horrible especially La drivers. Bunch road ragers lol everyone there is too impatient

Fun fact:Florida means flower in Spanish and was Spanish Territory and named by explorer Juan Ponce de Leon.

Speaking of Spaniards, will there be a fictional version of St. Augustine? I think it is the purely and only Spanish that can be found in Florida.

It's the oldest city in America btw founded in 1565. I've been there twice:) it's the most European looking city in America along with Savannah Georgia and Charleston South Carolina. I have no clue if they or not

I've heard Boston is also up there. At least maybe regarding the street layout.

St. Augustine was obviously founded by Spaniards since by the 16th century it was still a world power.

Seeing the few references to Spain/Spaniards in RDR2 due to the corpses of a missionary from Madrid or a colonizer, some of that influence would be nice in VI.

Yes also Philadelphia, Annapolis, Washington DC, NYC, Williamsburg, and even Santa Fe are the oldest American cities too. Philadelphia was also the original US national capital for government legislation and judicial before it moved to Washington DC

Flor means flower

Pretty sure Florida means something like "filled with flowers"

R* should not definitely leave Tampa out especially when it's only 3 hours away

Fun fact: Tampa is geographically bigger than Miami in landmass size but 50,000 less in population to Miami. Miami has more people.

Malherbida, no that sounds bad

Can't remember if it was in this thread or not but someone said the license plates had the abbreviation GL on them, if there are any Spanish words starting with Gl that relate somehow to flowers or plants

Unless the GL is referencing a state based of Georgia, idk what the general consensus is as to whether or not that will be in the map

Lol I'm looking forward to driving with our fellow Vice City commuters once the game comes out.

Definitely better than dealing with Los Santos drivers, god that was the worst.

like almost all of these incidents, I've experienced (and also accidentally committed) in GTAV. They really nailed the stupid AI in V pretty well. Liberty City drivers in IV were not nearly as bad in comparison.

Can't wait to study the AI traffic of VI and see what makes them tick

Love St. Augustine, I try to go every year. If they add it, I'm sure we'll see a mashup version with other coastal towns. But based on the leaked coordinates, it sounds like they're focusing more on the West or NW side of Florida, so we might not see it unfortunately.

Georgia isn't a Spanish state and was English colony. Georgia is the peach state. Nobody knows

Perhaps in the "famous map expansion" we will see something like that, but of course, knowing a company that rarely or rarely deigns to fulfill its promises or requests from the fans, it is hard, I think that in the GTA universe at unless I know we didn't see such European structures as the one in St. Augustine. (if we exclude UK from the 2D universe, of course.)

From what I saw in the third photo, it's very colorful, isn't it? It reminds me of the TBoGT that had those colors and they got rid of the fact that it had IV because the atmosphere was dark, sad and depressive, although sometimes I have never liked the oversaturation of colors at all unless you want it to resemble real life although they have to differentiate some things from the other, that there is like a balance in the palette.

I would only understand that South Carolina and the state of Georgia would make sense to do them if they really dare to at least finish the state of Florida physically, I always want to see European structures of this style.

Most Cities in the gta world sadly lack European style architecture and look more like Spanish architecture and Caribbean like architecture. Los Santos has that Mediterranean/latin American architecture feel in many areas and Vice City has more Caribbean style architecture in many parts.

I feel that in St. Augustine there was more of a Spanish presence than a British one, although it is true that there are cities in the USA that lack European structures, the few that exist or that do not exist, are not bad at all, but those bricks near the statue in the building seems very typical to me because it was founded in the 16th century, let's be honest, I think that around that time or later the piracy began and although Spain has had its golden age, it is evident that with the passing of the centuries it is lost a lot of power and presence as it happened, nothing is eternal.

We're talking about gta cities. I definitely agree with you! American cities are modernized and the best examples are Chicago, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, and Los Angeles. All modernized but many of them have Spanish architecture to them.
