Heart of Gold protagonists are the best ones. Relatable while still doing the badass things real life players can't.

Why do they need redeemable qualities? Claude didn't and I don't see anyone complaining about him. Tommy was a piece of sh*t and he's considered one of the best protagonists in the series.

It's GTA, we kill innocent civilians, cops, and animals for fun between missions... the fact that you have a Tommy pfp and say this is offensive.

The idea is that there should be a threshold. Dishonorable Arthur will murder, torture and rob people out of pure fun but has an issue with Strauss for being a loan shark which is relatively not that bad. Strauss example would work with Honorable Arthur because he only does bad out of necessity and henceforth considers Strauss as an unnecessary evil so he kicks him out but Dishonorable Arthur behavior doesn't work with Strauss, in that case, Arthur is doing much much worse things than Strauss yet the selling of the idea of kicking him out by Arthur by the game feels forced.  That's the argument.

I hope that clarify the point. Because analogy would be if Tommy would scold people for stealing a house when he himself stole a mansion. No,Tommy was a good boss and expected others to be the same, when they are not, only then he became hostile. That's why he goes against Sonny. Tommy's behavior makes sense, Dishonorable Arthur doesn't in our opinion.

I wanna know how many assets in this game, even as placeholders, were originally to be used in Bully 2 or Agent.


The station wagon in Ryo's video above mine looks mint, a bit too mint for a modern setting imo. Could it have been from the period piece Agent, the ambiguous time frame Bully 2, or is GTA 6 gonna have a lot of mint old cars like V already did?

People will not like what I have to say but it sounds like another Online DLC.

And I kinda expected that so it's not a huge issue for me personally, although it is an issue nonetheless. I think the bigger concern, however, is the NPCs' dialogues i.e peds and such.

Damn I guess protecting Lance, avenging Victor's death, saving his friend Cortez from being killed by the French, undermining a corrupt police force, saving Love Fist and protecting Ken and Old man Kelly from Sonny are all bad things in your book? He also canonically didn't kill any innocents during all of Vice City storyline btw.

Honestly if he wasn't benefiting from it or being paid to do that he very likely wouldn't have done them. "Protecting Old man Kelly from Sonny" of course he f*cking would lol he runs the printworks and Tommy owns the printworks

I don't think there's a way to take a good protagonist out of this (in a GTA context, at least), every good criminal protagonist have some kind of moral, honor or good quality so we as the public can care about him.

idk man, for example Toni's only good quality was that he was loyal to his employers. Other than those he's a piece of sh*t

I must confess that I was pretty gutted that the setting is not in the 80s, but I’m starting to warm to the present day setting now. 
 

If there is inspiration taken from Breaking Bad and/or Narcos/Queen of the South, then I’ll be onboard.

As of now, it's next to impossible to figure out the main focus of the story. Pretty safe to assume cartels are out of the way(too intense of a topic to handle, apparently), heists too(there will of course be one or two, though). Maybe a rags-to-riches type story, but with a love couple instead of a single protagonist? Plenty of room for great storytelling.

I've seen the supposed voice actor of "Lucia" in the big messy thread. Of course no one knows for sure, though.

Many people don't know this but this mission can be completed just with blowing up vehicles, you can literally avoid killing people so I don't think it counts.

 

Also those targets in assassinations are strongly implied to be criminals (Since Mr. Black employed the actual Leo Teal with killing criminals too) so they aren't particularly good people either.

I would love another classic rags to riches type story that is more colorful and feel-good power fantasy like Vice City instead of the moral commentary BS GTA 5 had to offer

Personally I really think this has potential to be the best GTA game since Vice City

idk man, just the idea that Tommy was gonna incite violence on random strangers just because a random biker told him to is the same energy as Toni blowing up an entire neighborhood just because a guy paid him 4K to lol

 

Also when is the pizza guy implied to be a criminal, or the wife just because she spends too much of her husband’s money?

1. Why would rival criminals (Mr. Black and his employer) want them killed if they weren't messing in their businesses and also literally all other targets you kill are criminals so it's very reasonable to assume that the pizza guy and wife are too.

2. Tommy didn't do these good things I mentioned simply because he was personally gaining from it, he could have easily let Lance suffer and storm Diaz's mansion himself (and don't say he wouldn't have been able to alone, he killed like 11 people all by himself which he didn't even know were gonna be there) yet he chose to save Lance, he could have whacked Lance when he was being incompetent but he chose to try and help him, same goes to Cortez, he could have let the French whack him but he helped him. And he didn't protect Kelly simply because he was the manager of the printworks, he viewed him as a father figure due to his father also working at printworks.

You are right but I was wondering if we ever have example of Rockstar changing voice actors entirely? The fact that leaked footage have voice acting seems to indicate that at least a good chunk of these characters might be fixed. But of course Rockstar could change that, it's just that I don't recall ever video game companies doing that. But if the voice acting is fixed, then chances are that most of what we have seen regarding characters might be fixed as well i.e they may not be as outdated as we believe.

Even before the leek, people seemed to be somewhat against a female protagonist. I don't know the reason behind it. Online portion of GTA V has had the option since its beginning. I'd really like to play and see how the story turns out. I am not much of a gamer outside of GTA, but there have been female main characters before, haven't there? Tomb Raider?

 

Anyway, now we only have to wait for an official teaser/trailer to see what the theme of the game will be. I, myself, will most likely not be playing the game at launch, but certainly will play it at some point.

 

I am a bit disappointed about the contemporary setting, but I guess going back in time would have set a lot of gameplay constraints - there would have been removed features that players have got accustomed to previously. I console myself that for nostalgia there are always radio stations to set the mood. 80s setting, or some other time period for that matter, would probably have been restrictive. As much of a Miami Vice and 80s fan that I am (caused by original Vice City of course) I think the current approach is probably for the best.

Do you not know that hitmen will try to get people killed for the most mundane reasons? Maybe the pizza guy saw something he shouldn’t have seen, maybe the guy wants his wife dead so he can get money from her life insurance policy. Just because they’re targeted by criminals doesn’t necessarily mean that they are criminals lol

Alternatively you could assume he went to save lance before lance blabs to them about Tommy and their plans. Yea tommy did one or two good things but his morality is left ambiguous for the most part . He’s not like Vic or Niko or Trevor who won’t get off their high horse about how they’re a nice guy and want to be more than a criminal.

As I said, I don't care if we get modern day or another 80s or any-era period piece out of the next-GTA VI Vice City. Really looking forward for the gangs, the underworld lores. GTA V really dissapoints in this aspect with the focus on FIB and rich guy Devin, so I hope to see a living crime world as deep as or deeper than GTA IVs.

 

Let's face it, there's so much to explore in real life Miami crime scenes, @The Made Man have elaborated it very well and I have conducted research on it for my concept. From launderers to drug cartels to street gangs from diverse backgrounds, not just Latinos. It may be not as bloody as the 80s cocaine war, but it still a dangerously deceiving place with all the gangs/organizations around.

 

Redneck gangs is 90% confirmed with Jason, would be wild to see them in the Everglades/Key. Other than that I've only seen the Haitian in Little Haiti-like setting so far (in the video with painted wall) and possible African-American gangbangers throughout multiple videos. Personally, the rich Russian gangs in Sunny Beach Isles have become a "must appear" on my wishlist, they're just too good to be a missed opportunity.

 

I get the impression that this couple would be more of freelancers, doing crimes (mainly robberies) for themselves, so it can be something close to Niko Bellic, being able to be free and work for different underwold figures for different gangs.

Saw some of the weapons list that may appear in GTA VI on reddit, the interesting thing is there may be a separate category called 'equipment' including items like binoculars, flashlights, lock picks and zipties (this indicating you could handcuff people)

Great question.

 

I could honestly see it working either way. It could work similar to the lasso from RDRII with it having unlimited uses in tying people up and has next to no cooldown. It could also be a limited use replenishable item, but the question is if it would be too tedious to go out and buy more. If that were the case, it would probably work similar to how gun oil and fishing bait operate in RDRII. 

 

Personally I would bet on it being a permanent unlock with no risk of it running out of quantity. It may occupy a slot in the weapons wheel along with other equipment, and as such would have to be manually selected, or it could be like the lock breaker from RDRII, which occupies no visible slot and just appears magically when a prompt is pressed. Since Lucia just presses a button to tie the man with a zip tie without utilizing the weapon wheel, I would put my money on the latter

I wish they aren't unlimited. The more reason we have to spend or acquire cash, the better. Bring back hardware stores like the classic Vice City had.
