I compiled songs heard in leaked videos along with timestamps and filenames.

0:33 - Sharivari by The Dirtbombs (Moodymann set from Music Locker Radio) [thanks MGgames100]

Americas_1 2022-08-29 12-44-36

0:09 - most likely Blown Away by Youth Brigade (Channel X)

2:20 - Megan Thee Stallion ft DaBaby - Cash sh*t ( iFruit Radio)

Americas_1 2021-12-14 19-52-44

0:28 - Humble Pie - 30 Days In The Hole (LS Rock Radio)

Americas 2021-03-23 09-58-52
0:12 - Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (not featured before)

Americas 2022-02-10 20-25-15

0:17 - Little Dragon - Wanderer (The Lab)

Americas 2021-12-17 10-31-22

0:10 - Future - Codeine Crazy (Blonded LS)

Americas 2021-07-12 12-19-51

0:02 - Diamond Casino Heist - Casino Heist Two [thanks CropDusteR]

TL;DR  Almost all of these are placeholders copied from GTA V/Online. Only Smoke on the Water wasn't featured in GTA V/O. Normal radio has not been implemented yet.

In this topic i'll try to find songs that can be heard in this compilation and post their titles along with video timestamp

0:33 - Sharivari by The Dirtbombs

(Remix of this song was featured in LSUR)

3:54 - very hard to tell but sounds like Blown Away by Youth Brigade (Channel X)

11:11 - Megan Thee Stallion ft DaBaby - Cash sh*t (from iFruit Radio)

15:59 - Humble Pie - 30 Days In The Hole (LS Rock Radio)
16:32 - Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (not featured before)

17:18 - Little Dragon - Wanderer (The Lab)

18:25 - Future - Codeine Crazy (Blonded LS)
47:01 - Egyptian Lover - Everything She Wants (iFruit radio)
47:24 - ScHoolboy Q - Numb Numb Juice (iFruit)
49:38 - The Ramones - Time Bomb (Kult FM)

To recap, almost all of songs are placeholders copied from GTA V, except Smoke on the Water, which may indicate that normal radio has not been implemented yet.

Sharivari is from Moodymann set in Music Locker Radio

Craig Conner. Great producer. Doubt that he is working at Rockstar anymore. But he is the guy behind the previous installments soundtrack. And he also produced all the parody songs in GTA 3+LCS. For example this obvious parody of The Prodigy:

He followed Leslie Benzies to Build A Rocket Boy where they're making Everywhere.

How the f*ck did this thread not get locked yet?

because there are no photos, videos, or sounds shared from the leaks. the closest thing would be links to songs that could be heard, but that's just songs, which is completely different copyright.

Music I would believe would be absolutely dead last. They always kind of went from the most current hits or whatever was hot +/- 2 yrs from launch. Not sure if they scour the Billboard charts for inspiration or how it works.  Question would be how massive their budget is for music - it costs a lot to license songs.  Too much budget to the game and not enough left for music results in a poor experience (looking at you Wreckfest).

I’ve said this before but the Watch Dogs series is a victim of this (but not Far Cry funnily enough) despite the music-on-foot system. I can probably count the good tracks in 1 and 2 combined on my two hands. Maybe that’s a slight over-exaggeration but the point stands that the soundtrack in those games could be better.

Despite the Saints Row reboot being a disaster, the soundtrack isn’t half bad and it still has the music-on-foot system. Route Overdrive is a nice selection imo.

If anybody can license expensive music, it's Rockstar.

But, in all the excitement, maybe nobody's mentioned that the 9th anniversary of GTAV is the last year before the 10th anniversary, which has meant the expiration date for a lot of songs' licenses in previous games, if they were too expensive or unable to be licensed for longer.

Every single song heard in the clips are from GTA V/Online used as placeholders. Nothing interesting to see (or hear) here sadly.

They have licensed HUNDREDS of songs for gta v/gta online, so I thinks it’s a good bet to say they’ll go all out with the soundtrack.

Foreg's right, Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water has never appeared in a GTA soundtrack, except in the name of the cannabis dispensary on Vespucci Beach.

While I dont enjoy that music genre, I gotta 100% agree, After the tragic events that transpired to him , Adding his song "Vice City" as a tribute would only be fitting

Wasn't in the leaks but recently attended a wedding, close family member attended who also happens to be the singer of an 80s band asked what I had been up to recently, we got talking about Rockstar Games since I follow them closely and make videos about it, he said they had a song in Vice City Stories and recently got asked to use 2 more of their classic tracks from the 80s, so my guess is a similar station to Emotion is coming back with some proper 80s ballads and gothic style songs, throwback station if you will

For nostalgia I wonder if they'll add any of the old Vice City songs into the game, some of those were great.

It's likely as not that any music heard in the leaked footage was placeholder audio. Don't expect to hear ANY OF IT in the final game.

Music licensing is a PAIN IN THE ASS. I remember in the run-up to GTAV's launch, outlets were talking about music they heard on the in-game radio in hands-on previews(Radar Love by Golden Earring was one that I remember offhand). Some of those tracks didn't make it to the final release which was only a few months later. The final set list won't be in place until just before the game goes gold.

All that said.. I have mixed expectations. I expect A LOT of rap, because that seems to be what GTA's target demographic likes. Personally, I don't care for it, but I expect at least one modern rap station, a classic rap station, and an "underground" rap station. There'll assuredly be a pop station (that'll probably be just like GTAV's, playing a mix of modern and 80s/90s pop hits), a classic rock station (we haven't gotten a legit hard rock/metal station since GTA: SA. And no, punk doesn't f*cking count!). Probably a country station for the local hillbillies, at least one (probably 2) talk stations, a Spanish-language station (due to the large Cuban population), possibly a station for island music (reggae, dancehall, etc) and likely a station for EDM/techno.

The thing about GTA's music selection is that I feel that at least since VC, it's opened people up to genres they might not have otherwise checked out. I didn't listen to country AT ALL until GTA:SA, listened to Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson on K-ROSE and found out I actually rather liked it. Now Rebel Radio is a favorite of mine on GTAV, and I don't think I'm alone.

I think he said Vice City Stories. Mr. Mister's song was in the original VC.

The list of VCS Emotion bands (not individual musicians like Elkie Brooks) that never appeared in any other games:

The Motels

10cc

Quarterflash

The Passions

The Assembly

The Pretenders

Rainbow

Giuffria

Games do music licensing after atleast halfway through the development cycle right? Or are they mutually exclusive?
