Devs putting out "Betas" which are mostly limited time demos over the last few years, really skewed with what people think a development build looks like.
Making it look pretty is pretty far down the line after making the map, the gameplay systems and so on.

No. GTA 6 is not in "early development". They could started another project before those videos, and started all from zero in 2020 or before. Those videos are from 2021-2022. But we don't know what it was before, maybe 2 years before the map was being created.

Looks like the game like the map, props and cie are placed "correctly", there is work behind this. They will not release GTA 6 in 7 years like your post seems to say !

 

There are videos about missions already "done" + voice acting, this is advanced, not like pre alpha v0.1.0.1

But from what I've seen from the gameplay so far - it's really not that different to V. Even the conversations between some of the peds are too similar - no emotion in those conversations and still boring and not very engaging. 

 

R* have made us wait and wait and wait for this sh*t - and they know that we have high expectations.

 

If the progress they've made to date is some modifications to the base of the GTAV game then we're probably another good 4/5 years away from release.

For me, the game is Good for the Alpha version. I believe the leaked videos are correct. Some of the models look like Red Dead Redemption 2 and some are from GTA 5 (which is both RAGE).

 

Whilst I'm not disagreeing, my concern is that it's indeed in this very early alpha stage after so blumming long (providing the timestamps on the videos are accurate that is).

This is what they look like. This is exactly what they look like.

 

Optimisation is typically the last phase of development, and those high end assets and visual stuff is performance intensive, so not suitable to have turned on while they are doing in-game testing and development. It's not so much that the high end assets and visual stuff didn't exist when that footage was recorded either, they probably do (but again, all in dev still), but it's just turned off. Most of the devs don't care how it looks at that stage.

It's very clearly real. And it makes sense how it was hacked too. Slack doesn't even have 2FA, the hacker probably guessed someone's password, and scraped these videos from a QA channel where testers are posting these videos as evidence of existing bugs or bugs being fixed.

This is insane My cousin just went to boot camp yesterday but I can't reach him because they take away their phones I bet this news will get him through the hell he's about to go through. Or make him depressed because he won't be able to see it until after 90 days. Should I even tell him?

After playing all the gta games from the late 1990s until now I think we have deserved this. 

 

Rockstar has deserved this as well. 

 

In my opinion you can’t keep players in the dark for as long as they did. And I believe the amount of viewers here on the forum right now, is a testament to that.

That has nothing to do with the filename or code in it. The python files are part of the build system.
