The Python scripts are for automated testing. These leaks appear to be from an internal testing team. These are people who write code that automatically test the game (e.g. test pressing a button makes something happen on screen). You don't want to test all this stuff manually so you write automated tests to check for you.

I appreciate their Bonny and Clyde type of protagonist choice, would make for a great story if it involves running across different regions in a somewhat similar way to RDR2. Would be quite disappointing if it's just Vice City though, that kinda kills the "on the run" aspect. We shall see, but good beginning

I would guess it could be for NPC car randomization maybe?...also judging from the clips apparently characters have different heights too so it could tie into that...Or it could be just a small dev system for quick model position tweaks. We gotta keep in mind that despite having 1st person view the game will most likely be designed for 3rd person view like all past titles so they probably wont go crazy on that

For an early pre-build that's a very good sign for me that the game not will be very bad.

I'm super glad that the place of this GTA will be in Vice City.

 

I guess only thing that I don't like is GTA V Police Cruiser here, c'mon, why R* reused this model and not made a new one?..

I would say, yes. They will probably want to calm this whole thing down, as soon as possible. Will probably start issuing DMCA's as well, or they will sit back and stay quiet, and make it seem like it's a fake, which I kind of don't see happening, at this very moment.

This is what they look like. This is exactly what they look like.

 

Optimisation is typically the last phase of development, and those high end assets and visual stuff is performance intensive, so not suitable to have turned on while they are doing in-game testing and development. It's not so much that the high end assets and visual stuff didn't exist when that footage was recorded either, they probably do (but again, all in dev still), but it's just turned off. Most of the devs don't care how it looks at that stage.

 

 

Indeed. I worked as a game tester for a much smaller local game for a little bit and even just a few months before release it looked a lot like this in terms of how "finished" it is. Most of the game systems seem to be finished, people don't realize that's the brunt of the work. What people see as a completely unfinished mess actually just needs a couple of layers of polish on top to look AAA.

Doubt they'll touch this publicly, they most like will just keep quiet and stay far away from it in the public eye. Of course, privately this is causing quite a stir.
