Tbh I'd have preferred a map leak over what got leaked today. Would've been more mysterious like the RDR2 map leak. Feels like we got an early trailer for a game that's not even done and there's already loads of people moaning about a game under development not looking like some rainy weather "GTA 6 RTX on" yt video.

That's not impossible to fake if he has screens from the Slack, nor is it proof he has the games source code (the entire thing).

 

He may have it, but there's a leap from socially engineering access to a devs Slack account and getting recordings (which are common in Slack for game devs) to the source code for V and VI and a working test build. The latter stuff is not something that's floating around on a Slack chat, I'd imagine.

I'm also a programmer in the industry, was pretty interesting to see the leaks and to get a small peak of their debug tools.

To be honest most of the gamedevs on twitter are snowflakes, most of the gamedevs are not on twitter (or anonymous) for a reason.

I can't imagine that leaks of such debug videos impacts the devs in any way, at least it wouldnt impact me at all. Only annoying thing are the armchair gamedevs saying the game looks bad, not realizing its development footage.

But overall for me it would be like what ever. Would be just bad in terms of annoying followups about security, probably training, work from home restrictions, pissed of management / bosses, etc.

The hype when a real trailer will be released will still be there, they have nothing to worry about.

 

All this "love goes out to the devs, stay strong!!!!" is so ridiculous. Freaking snowflakes acting like its the end of the world for the devs on a personal level. It's not.

 

e/ And yes, as a programmer, the videos look awesome. Hyped for the final product.

Yeah they're not gonna be sharing entire source codes over slack. Very easy to fake something like that and it's probably just an attempt at trying to retain some clout after everyone gets over the clips.

Double RDR 2 maybe? Interacting with every NPC in a city is a whole different dimension than in a western world but they proved its possible already in Saint Denis which has a lot of NPCs.

Do not spread misinformation until we have confirmation, leave the misinformation spreading to certain Twitter "journalists".

I'm not a programmer yet, but I would imagine that companies like Rockstar have some kind of protection in place, so that you can't just leak the entire source code. It's probably impossible to download the entire thing on a personal device in the first place without that being allowed by the management.

Video files can't harm your computer unless there is an exploit in the video player you're using and the video just happens to take advantage of it

For the love of god stop posting tweets from the fake twitter account, the guy doesn't even type like the OP and he's making ridiculous claims such as still being in their server and shutting their PCs off.

I agree and disagree. It's kind of like being a parent and being excited for your kids to open their presents on Christmas morning. But the kids end up finding the toys in your closet before you wrap them and the surprise factor isn't there anymore. I doubt 99% of devs at R* care but the ones who are kind of let down over this leak are justified.

Its just fortune, that Rockstar has become a money-grinding company and only care about online-kiddy-stuff and not releasing DLCs for GTA V

 

They even canceled GTA IV remastered - wtf.
