Okay, is there any real scenario in which the leaker doesn't get prosecuted, or at least sued? Even if Take2 accepts to negotiate with them, how can they be sure they will stick to their word? I don't see this ending well for the leaker tbh...

Looking pretty good (mix of rdr2 & gta5 like expected + confirms a bunch of rumors) but i wonder how recent this build is.

Also yea, you know, dont release it and dont blackmail R*/T2 please, its just gonna delay the release of GTA6 even longer, be proud of your achievement of getting this (i guess) but dont ruin things for the rest of us please. Since so many sites make the connection already i will too: the HL2 leak certainly didn't do the final game good either, please think about ALL the possible consequences of releasing this to public. I don't think that Take2 will pay him anything. And this means that he will leak the code.

I actually think they will be dead silent beside from their lizard lawyer army going exterminatus on anyone even thinking about the footage, and then some time later this year doing the reveal on their own terms, on a time they choose. Doing the reveal now would be just "negotiating with terrorists" and letting outside parties to dictate their course of action. GTA is such a juggernaut of a franchise that they will absolutely not let some random leaker decide when they reveal it. Or that is what I speculate about it anyway, maybe we do get the first trailer tomorrow

Why would r* need to rewrite the code? Just because its open doesn't mean they can't use that code anymore. if your security model depends on the code not being open, then its already broken. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_through_obscurity

Of course if the code leak is real, then OP is in big trouble, but that's a separate topic.

Like for all intents and purposes, even if they were just proof of concept pictures to show off prototypes, why would they do it in a slightly modified GTA 5? Why bother modifying it at all just for some internal documentation or to show off at a closed conference?

If the leaker is good at covering their tracks, they will never get caught. The best T2/R* can hope for is paying them so that the source code does not leak and development can resume on a tighter ship.

Look at all those shovelware scam games like RAW and CIVIL CONTRACT, it’s not that difficult to get some free or cheap unreal assets and shine it up to look presentable 

 

I know you've probably responded by this point, but this video is clearly a render. I remember when I was like 12 years old and I still recognized this as a 3D render. It might not have even been originally developed to be a GTA fake, but rather a generic tech demo. There are no receipts or evidence in this video even trying to pretend it is GTA 5, unlike what you see in these current leaks.
