I can only imagine the chaos that will occur at Rockstar tomorrow morning. Emergency meeting, figuring out the root cause, discussing the future and any possible ramifications.

I don't know enough to know how much work it'd be or what they've have to change as a result of such leaks, I just know they'd have to make those changes otherwise there would be a massive security risk in the game at launch, especially for GTAO2. Source code leaks are extremely useful to cheat makers for example, but the damage can be worse than people using aimbots and whatnot too.

 

It really has to be said, this is one of the biggest leaks in the industries history, Rockstar and T2's offices will be wild right now. I absolutely think it will have a big influence on Slack usage and the like going forward too, across the entire industry. They'll all be thinking the same, if it happened to R*, it can happen to anyone.

Everyone knew years ago Slack was a possible way in. The fact R* security didn't take more precautions is kind of funny, TBH. Schreier's previous article about the delays, etc. always read to me like a marketing piece direct from R*. I wonder if they knew they had been compromised, and were trying to get out in front of it with purposeful leaks to their favorite industry mouthpiece. Maybe they just didn't know exactly how much was taken.

On the other hand, it's cool that leak finally happened, I guess it was unavoidable. But I'm still kinda dissapointed that it leaked before the 1st trailer drop. Now when the trailer is released it won't feel as epic.

The thing is the overwhelming majority of "GTA V" leaks didn't look like Rage at all, you'd at least see some GTA IV animation/physics elements but instead the leaks looked closer in line to a mobile game or unity project.

This leak definitely is the real deal though, the dev environment matching past rage games is a dead giveaway. Idk what Foxf*ck was talking about in the beginning of the thread.

Any platform that requires a login that is public is a vector in. Rockstar couldn't really do much against this one. Check how the uber hack worked, this one is most likely done the same way.

Years? Sheesh, let's hope not. Watch it come out right before the new consoles come out, ala GTA V. 

 

We'll have to wait and see, but it's the main reason I can't be all that excited about this leak. At the same time, nothing we can do about it.

So....taking out CCTV cameras to could be a thing in the entire game and not just certain missions. Nice. I dont do it alot in GTA V so I dont know how it applies outside of Cayo and certain heist, mission setups.

Honestly, with all of the things R* Games have been doing lately (sending DMCA's & lawsuits to fans, mistreating their workers for ages, GTA Trilogy awful remaster, GTA V/Online milking, GTA+, killing off RDO...etc).

I'm actually glad that this happened and besides, it's not like anything major got leaked (only some old clips of QA testing really).

It's happening now. I can imagine all the senior leaders have been called in and their legal teams will be advising them. Every R* employee will probably have loads of updates to do on their devices, and loads of emails on Monday.
