Comrade Monke
I had a similar discussion in this thread so go check it out if you want. Anyway, there are things that have led me to believe rockstar will actually merge all universes into one huge shared one or will find some other way to have a cross over: 1. The multiple CLEAR references to GTA San Andreas events in GTA 5 here and here. Also this here is from one of the recent DLCs. Those can't be passed off as simple Easter eggs. They aren't humorous in nature either, they are serious dialogues discussing it's events. 2. The Definitive Edition itself. Seriously, rockstar says that they aren't returning to the 3D universe, yet they suddenly overadvertise and release a full remaster of those games which features HD Universe assets? I know it was for GTA 3's anniversary but seriously, do you believe today's rockstar would do something like this if it wasn't for a bigger purpose? They could have just added sh*t to GTA online and call it a day. 3. Claude can be your GTA online character's parent. Again, not a simple Easter egg if your character can be the descendant of a character that supposedly never existed in that universe. This has led me to believe that the universes are slowly being merged into one. What are your thoughts?

universetwisters
1) They’re pretty obvious references but they’re really lazy and sloppily written in 2) It’s a cash grab and they used HD era assets because they were too cheap to make their own 3) Some people think GTA online isn’t canon so there’s that. Not only that but it’s literally just an Easter egg lol. Like how can Niko be the father too if he’s like 35 by the time V came out and the gta online protagonist is in their 20s-40s? TL;dr it’s nothing but references to past games or lazy writing/modeling. Nothing too sinister going on there

They could have just added sh*t to GTA online and call it a day. Grove Street Games just had access to some Rockstar assets and they used them willy-nilly, without respecting the established lore of the 3D universe. I mean, you even have an ad about smartphones in 1992 San Andreas. That's a pretty big f*ck up on their part, unless you think it's an evidence of both cross-universe travel and time travel too. Also overadvertised? The remasters were revealed and released in a pretty short time span. Sure, there were rumours beforehand, but the actual game was barely advertised. In regards to point 1. and 3. I feel like this has been discussed to death, even if the topic you linked. They aren't clear references, they are fairly vague and can absolutely be written off as Easter eggs.
