First Time Online still worth?

Hi I play GTA 5 since it came out and I tried the multi player when it was available in my country. I stopped after the first three times I got killed. It was just people running everyone over with their cars and laughing. It was a toxic environment.

Now after all the years I want to try it again, since Amazon Prime Gaming has some free $$$ 😎

Are there clans that still welcome absolute noobs? Or should I stay way because it's too late anyway? I ask to get opinions. Of course I know I can just login and try, but ... I got so many mods installed for single player, that the decision is attached to the work of removing the mods first to avoid Cheat Detection problems.

Thanks for your opinions on joining multi player for the first time.

Online play is still as (if not more) toxic than it used to be.

If you're on PC then it's even worse due to script-kiddies and spam-bots ruining lobbies and threatening the security of your IP address and similar. Which would then limit you to playing alone (defeating the purpose of the whole 'Online' idea), or playing with friends that you can definitely trust (with the hope that they don't have any nefarious scripts, nor do they know anyone that uses mod-menus).

Clans Clubs for grinding money and other activities exist, along with a few that are dedicated to racing etc. if that's what you're after. There are new players all of the time, so I wouldn't let that hold you back. Obviously if you were more after a roleplaying experience then vanilla GTA Online isn't really the place, and you'd have to research into FiveM servers and similar.

But the TLDR is that I personally wouldn't recommend getting into Online nowadays. There's no sign of the next GTA yet (estimations range from next year to 2030!), but I can imagine it'll be a different experience altogether - hopefully fixing all of the problems that have existed since the game was released.

All that being said, the choice is yours at the end of the day. If you know enough to keep yourself safe, or if you're willing to lone-wolf the whole thing and take on all-comers with the hope that you'll have fun, go for it!

🤣 sound aweful! I really do like racing and got almost all achievements. Online competition would be cool. But also racing is so much fun for me because of some mods I use to improve the graphics, rain, lightning and real world cars. I would not have all that in GTA Online. I think I also use a mod to change the behaviour of the cars - so my driving feeling would be different anyways.

Thank you for the very helpful and honest opinion!

I will check the FiveM thing you mentioned. thanks!

I say give it a try. You can now do everything in an Invite Only lobby and not be bothered by anyone.

WOW okay that's actually perfect. But no crossplay with friends. 🙄

There's a lot of content you can now play completely solo.

Depending on how much money you have, you could start out with the Kosatka / Cayo Perico Heist, using that to buy a business (nightclub, agency, bunker, vehicle/crate warehouse, ...), play it until you're bored and move on to the next one.

I honestly don't think the public lobbies are that bad. If I'm just driving around by myself, nobody really bothers me, but maybe that's because my rank is pretty high. But it seems to be mainly low level players that will kill me and take my ride, everyone else just seems to do their own thing besides the occasional PVP warrior. But then you can just change lobbies if you don't want to fight them. On that note, whenever those low levels steal my ride, I feel bad taking it back, so I just let them cruise around until they get bored. It's almost like a compliment, like they think my ride is cool so they want to drive around with it lol

But yeah if racing is your main interest, FiveM is probably the best choice. Racing in GTAO is pretty bad since most people will just ram everyone, and you need to make money to get cars first. On FiveM you can just spawn them right away, and the racing crews there will have some actual racing etiquette so the racing is cleaner. Of course there are also racing crews in the normal GTAO, but again you need to make money to get cars so it can be a bit of a grind
