House of the Dragon

The reign of House Targaryen begins: House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, is here. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

Paddy Considine (HBO’s The Third Day and The Outsider), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin, Doctor Who), Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel and Rhys Ifans to star. Additional cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn. Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators on the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners, and the pair also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt. Clare Kilner and Geeta Vasant Patel also direct the series. Greg Yaitanes is director and co-executive producer. Game of Thrones and Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi scored the series.

I just watched the first episode, it's pretty good, it feels like watching GoT. When i saw the first episode of GoT for the first time, i also wasn't immediatly hooked to the series and didn't care about the characters. In GoT it took like 2 or 3 seasons until i really liked the series. It will probably be similar with House of the Dragon.

 

I would rate the first HotD episode 7.5/10 on IMDB. It will take some time to get used to the cast, to the characters they play and what role they have in that fictional world. It seems to be slower paced, just like the first 5 seasons of GoT.

 

Im also a huge fan of The Wire, and back then when i saw the first episode, i only thought to myself wtf is this, it was the same with Breaking Bad and a few other other series that are slow paced.

Episode I

 

Very good. It certainly looks and feels like Game of Thrones. It had the requisite amounts of gore and T & A, so it’s a thumbs up from me.

Can't say I was hyped about this after how GoT concluded, but after having watched episode one I'm all in for this one. In a way it feels like an extension of the original story, as if GoT never truly ended. Maybe that's because season eight quite frankly gave a sh*tty closure to that particular saga.

 

I didn't side with Dany during GoT but I definitely thought the Targaryens had the most interesting house and lore in the show, which further makes this show interesting to me. I mean, how cool aren't the dragons? And then there's the gore, nudity, and violence... Damn, I missed Westeros.

I think the drop in quality in the last few seasons of GoT had to do with the fact that D&D ran out of book material. The show was at its peak during the first 4 seasons and then gradually dropped in quality from Season 5 or 6 onwards.

 

Haven't watched the first episode of HotD yet but it seems promising from what I hear.

I concur. Had this very conversation the other day and basically said the same thing. It worked great when they went by the books and after that everything just got increasingly watered down. The bullsh*t explanations to certain events and details by D&D during the last season really said all that needed to be said, I think. Once they didn't have any more source material they really showed all of us what writing skills they truly possessed.

 

The great news is GRRM is a direct writer for HotD. That's making me very optimistic for its future.

Watched first two episodes. Can confirm it´s pretty good. Feels like GoT when it was good (seasson 1 to 5/6). I spoiled myself on GoT Wiki about the books and damn, this should become epic. I can imagine at least 5 to 8 seasons.

I just started to watch the 2nd episode, then a thought crossed my mind, what if Melisandre will be part of the series, maybe in season 2 or 3 damn that would be nice.

 

It is the only character from Game of Thrones that could live in House of the Dragon already. According to the wiki she is something like 100-400 years old. After i had that thought i googled the actor, and she would like to play her role again it seems. Damn it would be totally weird and awesome seeing her in HotD too.

This is one of the most waited series of 2022. After the huge success of GOT, everyone was waiting for another GOT story. I am watching the House of Dragon on the Cinema HD app and downloaded the app from here:  https://cinemahdapk.onl/

I mean the series itself is great yeah, but the time skips are getting annoying. I mean they made a time skip of like 4+- years. That young girl already gave birth to a son that is 2 years old, and is pregnant again. I hope these time skips are only a thing of the first season, to get the story going a bit faster in the beginning. In GoT that was different, there were only time skips, of like a few weeks or a month, but never years.

Show has a lot of flash sure but it’s just alright for me so far.

I’ll probably just wait until the seasons over and watch it all and see if I’ll enjoy it more.

Outside of Viserys and Rhaenyra none of these characters have really grabbed me yet.  Although I do see why Daemon is most loved by the masses he’s just alright to me.  

As far as Game of thrones go, I got some flack for this lol, I’m one of few that doesn’t believe that season 8 ruined the series.  For me the downfall started in season 5 and I found seasons 6-8 to be equally bad.
