How to mute spam messages?

These days whenever I join a session, a random bot keeps messaging in the game with random links, this is so annoying and they can not be muted even from the players' tab.

You can turn off the chat completly. Or just switch session.

Unfortunately that is wildly inadequate - as there are many important messages that should not be muted - and is the reason for much cursing at R" developers.

 

What is needed is the ability to disable each individual message from repeating.   For example, disable the emails about buying stuff from the ship place without messing with the daily email that reminds you of the weekly specials.   Or disabling the job messages from Gerard (or any other specific job that you already did multiple times) without messing with jobs you have not yet done.

 

The simplest implementation would be a button when you view the email, text or job (NPC job notification only!) in the phone for "stop!" - just like in IRL texts.

 

A fancier implementation (but trickier);would also let you undo specific silencing instructions that you might have given in error.

OP is talking about modders that spam the chat, what does that have to do with emails and notifications of the game itself?

Is he?  To me it still sounds like the in-game spam messages.

Else he wouldn't mention the player tab, and the game can't send links. Im pretty sure he means the modders that spam their chinese links in textchat.

I am talking about in-game phone messages, they send suspicious links probably a phishing link, I thought muting them in players tab would also mute their messages.

I didn't know links can be send via ingame phone messages.

 

There is nothing you can do about that im afraid.

ahh sad, because of modders, pc experience is both great and annoying at the same time

OK, given that your problem is caused by modders, there is a solution:

 

1) Avoid public open sessions like the plague.

 

2) Play Invite-Only sessions unless you want other players in game.

 

3) If you want other players, find and join a LARGE crew (500-1000 players) that hosts their own session and enforces rules that you like in their session.  Then you get the great experience of multiplayer but without the hackers/griefers/spammers/modders ruining your game.

Interesting because I’ve never had anything like this happen on PC.
