Emmi
For me (so far) there has only been one game which left me with tears in my eyes at the end and that was The Last of Us Part 2. Phenomenal experience and that last cutscene is so emotional and perfectly timed - you could say the entire game leads up to this - and it is so satisfying and sad at the same time. Amazing. Spoiler Honorable mentions that did not quite had the impact on me as The Last of Us Part 2 but still made me feel very sad and emotional by the end of their respective stories with watery eyes. Grand Theft Auto IV Life is Strange (that scene below is incredible!) Comrade Monke
While I didn't cry exactly, two games that made feel emotional was Vice City and IV. Vice City because of its beautiful atmosphere at the end and IV because of it's dark storyline. Emmi and The Time Ranger

Algonquin Assassin
GTA IV didn’t make me “cry” necessarily, but it was the first story from a GTA game that carried emotional weight after the credits rolled. However these games left me teary eyed or atleast with a lump of sadness in my throat. RDR 1/2. Probably obvious choices, but I was left a wreck after I finished them. Particularly RDR2 during Arthur’s last ride. Powerful stuff. The Last Of Us Part 1/2. Again obvious choices, but these games have so many tug at the heart strings moments it’s heard to pick just one. Telltale’s: The Walking Dead series. While many moments from the games are tear jerkers I remember back in 2018 when Telltale folded about halfway through the final season thinking that it would never get completed so I was happy to see it get the conclusion it deserved, but it brought tears to my eyes watching all the behind the scenes stuff from people who worked on the series for so long and done their best up until the very end. Life Is Strange. Looking back in hindsight it reminds me of the kind of bond I had with a very good friend of mine who passed away, but even when I first played it, it was such a roller coaster of emotions. Matrelith
Valiant Hearts: The Great War (also known as Soldats Inconnus). It's a game set in World War 1. You play as four characters: Emiel (a French farmer), Anna (a French medic), Freddie (a U.S. soldier) and Karl (a German living in France, he's Emiel's son-in-law). The game tells you their stories and how they experience the war. At the start of the game, Emiel gets conscripted for the French army and has to go to the front. For the entire game he's fighting to survive and to see his family again. At the tail end of the war he (major spoilers) Spoiler kills a superior officer due to unfortunate circumstances. The war has basically ended but Emiel is put on trial and is found guilty - death by firing squad. The last level is him walking out of his cell towards the wall where he'll be shot. You hear his voice as he reads the last letter he sends to his family aloud. Accompanied by a stellar soundtrack, the ending makes me cry every time. I can't not play this game and not cry. If you're into side scrolling adventure games with light puzzle elements and are kind of a history nerd, I can highly recommend it. Space Cowboy
I haven't cried, but there are two games in somewhat recent memory that made me emotional: Yakuza 0 Spoiler At the point where Nishki tries to kill Kiryu. Red Dead Redemption 2 Spoiler Arthur's final ride on the horse. Truly an impactful scene that is only amplified by the music. After spending so much time with him, it really affected me. sabitsuki
I haven't cried yet, but this scene in Kiwami 2 came close. To see Majima briefly reverting back to his more composed 1988 self upon leaving the parlor was pretty emotional to see. I thought Manhunt 2's good ending was also bittersweet as well. Daniel gets rid of Leo and overcomes his guilt of killing his own wife, wakes up not remembering anything on a quiet, hilly road, though finally being granted a new life by what's left of the Project, and most importantly, letting go of his past. Considering how violent the game was, this peaceful ending was the perfect juxtaposition to that and that sort of drove that whole emotional aspect for me. I also remember Henry's death scene, and the later revelation that he was a rat, being very sad, surprising and horrifying in Mafia 2, since right before that mission takes place his relationship with Vito and Joe reached an extremely high point. I won't link that because of the gore, but to see such a stoic and cool character get carved up in the middle of the park in broad daylight while he screams for his life can get pretty unnerving. Mafia 3's betrayal scene, as stylistic and emotional as it was, just wasn't as impactful to me, which isn't helped by the fact that Hangar 13 pretty much spoilt the premise in all of their marketting. DODI3OG
Like OP, The Last of Us Part 2 made me cry throughout the game even though I was spoiled before I even touched it. Next would be Horizon: Forbidden West. The cinematography and the character-building in this game was almost on par with Naughty Dog's games. I cried out of amazement on that dragon hologram scene in Las Vegas, also when they were rebooting the Land Gods. Far Cry 5 - when I was drugged to kill that Whitetail Militia leader. I just relate with him a lot since I'm also a prepper. Candidates: H: Zero Dawn - Epic and tear-jerky ending. GOW 2018, awesome cinematography and breathetaking visuals. TLOU PS3 - Sarah's death and the intro credits gave me goosebumps GTA IV - I was 12yo when I started playing, but my heart-strings were touched as to how humane they made these characters in the EARLY PS360 DAYS!!! IMO, it was on par, if not better than Uncharted 1's facial mocap. Edited August 22 by DODI3OG Algonquin Assassin
Mexicola9302
I never cried while playing a game, i mean it's just pixels, i also never cried while watching movies, series or whatever, that is all just fiction. I am sometimes a bit sad if a favorite character dies, or angry or happy about what happens but that's it. Very often im happy, if a character i don't like dies a horrible death in a story, because then i don't have to see them on the screen anymore. For example i would like it if "Hen" in 9-1-1 Los Angeles dies. I hate that character so much it ain't normal. I felt the same way about "Carl" in The Walking Dead. The end of Cyberpunk 2077 is really sad, it was totally annoying. Edited August 22 by Mexicola9302

Algonquin Assassin
To be honest I never felt that emotional during the scene in The Last Of Us when Sara died, but after playing Part 1 I legitimately teared up. I think it comes down to the new facial animations which helps bring out Troy Baker’s original performance even more. I was even watching the Grounded docu when they are recording this scene back in 2012/2013 or whenever it was recorded and how hard it was for him to get it just right. Can’t be an easy thing to express sorrow and grief like that for a video game. I get goosebumps thinking about it. Also in Part II when Ellie’s singing take on me to Dina. I know it’s not really meant to be a sad moment, but when you look back in hindsight after everything she loses it’s quite the tear jerker when you understand its meaning. Not to mention it’s a beautiful song in its own right anyway. Edited September 5 by Algonquin Assassin Emmi and DODI3OG
GhettoJesus
I would say there are a few games that managed to make me cry. First of all, there is Yakuza 0 which got me close to crying twice and managed to make me cry once. Spoiler Nishiki trying to kill Kiryu was emotional but funnily enough it wasn't enough to make me cry. The part where Sagawa and Majima amicably part and Sagawa is killed by Omi men almost got me crying, considering I really got to like Sagawa as the story progressed and to this day I maintain he is one of the best antagonists in gaming, hands down. The part that broke me was Majima choosing to Makoto's safety over love. You can see how pained Majima is to do the right thing for someone else. And then to top it all of he got Makoto's watch fixed which she discovers during a monologue at her brother's grave how she couldn't thank Majima. Very touching. Then there is Yakuza 3 Spoiler Rikiya's death is probably the saddest in the whole franchise. I don't think Kiryu has ever sounded more pained in the entire franchise. Red Dead Redemption 2 Spoiler Arthur's death and, funnily maybe even more so, Arthur's horses death. The way Arthur tries to calms his horse as it's drawing its final breathes and calling him a good boy. You can tell that Arthur is genuinely pained by losing such a faithful companion. Darth Absentis
Not the overall game, since i never found a game that bad but there are a few moments in certain games that almost or did make me cry: MGS1: Otacon: 'What am i fighting for ? What are you fighting for ?' + 'ending with the song ' The best is yet to come' MGS2: E.E: 'Call me emma' MGS3: The Boss: ''There is only room for one boss and one snake'+ ending MGS4: The first 'ending' The walking dead: Leaving Lee behind AC 2: in hindsight: The actual title intro AC4 'The parting glass' moment with Edward 'seeing his friends.' Sure, I got a bit emotional. But, the length of the quest and its RDR2-likeness bored me. I just finished it ASAP and I didn't bother taking in more of the emotions. Taka's death as well as my horse's, however got me until the finale. The Tracker
