Is there some way to get the game to load into Online mode?  I seem to remember that it USED to, but now it always starts in Story mode, even though I set the "startup flow" to start in Online mode.  It also resets several (but not all) of my settings, turning on automatic 1st person view recentering and head bobbing, and resetting all my mouse driving sensitivities to the defaults.

It's faster to load to story mode first so why would you change it.

Because it takes so long to load story, then reset all my settings (which it refuses to save, including the one to start in online mode), then load online.  I thought if I could get it to load into online mode, it might also save my settings so I don't have to keep resetting them every time I start the game.

Disclaimer: you have to be in story mode to change how it starts. This is the setting you need to change:

If you have already done that and it still doesn't work, check your Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V folder for read/write permissions, make sure nothing is marked as read-only. Maybe the game is not able to save your settings.

Ya, that's the setting I changed, but it refuses to save it.  I also adjust control sensitivity under Keyboard/Mouse, and turn off head centering and head bobbing in 1st Person under Camera... but none of that saves either.
