The stiff upper lip approach. Admirable, it would be a mistake to rush out an announcement or teaser IMO like some were speculating/suggesting..

on the plus side, this does indicate the game is far from ready

the rebel is really weirdly rounded around the windows and door now

new schafter interior is mint

would take them a while to redo all the vehicle interiors lol

Thats what you get for not giving us dripfeed vehicles for 2 weeks!

Jokes aside, I feel sorry for Rockstar that this happened.

Sure, the continuous silence without any info shared sometimes is frustrating but this is just disrespectful to the developers who put their hard work into the game.

Well, that happened.

It's only just beginning... we now have to decide what hat we wear. The next brand war isn't going to be Burger Shot vs Cluckin' Bell.

I've made my choice.

Well I'm glad Rockstar made an announcement; I hadn't thought there would be too much delay (if any) to their stuff, reinforced by the idea that Rockstar Games' publisher and parent, Take 2, have essentially said they "want as much out on as many platforms as possible" sort of thing.

Some people have likened the "early leaks" to finding your Christmas presents a few days early so to speak... what are people's thoughts on this, and furthermore, could we apply the same logic to GTA Online DLC leaks?
What camp are you in - do you PREFER to have leaks or do you prefer to be surprised with it coming from the official source? Sounds like a GTA F poll moment.

All QA builds for most Rockstar Games were updated. Including GTAV.

The updates are most definitely security-related. There are no changes to the build ID or the "timeupdated" part.

I know Rockstar assured there are no delays or disruption in the long-term, and that could be the case for GTA VI, but tbh I see that as more of a PR move.

Work from home is most likely restricted at the moment. I will continue to observe the QA builds. We tend to see nightly/daily builds being uploaded whenever Rockstar pushes out a update to "qabeta" build, but if we don't see any update this week. Then, their development workflow must have changed.

Can't be considered a "delay" if you've not even announced a launch window.

Maybe not for the consumer but for the employees it definitely can.

I honestly prefer leaks along side the official stuff. The official stuff tends to show things in a certain light, highlighting all the good things but often overhyping things. While the leaks on the other hand seem to be a bit more objective of things to come.

For me personally the leaks are more interesting that way then. Especially when you can see the behind the scenes stuff, when you can see the improvements of what was and what is now. You can also go along what the devs where thinking or where things might head in the future.

Could it be that they just changed encryption keys for things in case older ones were part of the leak?

Yes, possible. It's all security-related after all.

We will see whether Rockstar will resume as normal and upload nightly builds as usual.

Hopefully this does not affect current work on E&E for PC, the next dlc is on the works SO i would not worry about that.

To be honest, I saw a link to one of the 'GTA6 leeeeeek' videos on Twitter yesterday and didn't bite. But as it turns out, that bait would not only have been tasty, but Take2 won't be letting anyone drop a line there again!

Am I upset that I missed out? Not really, no. Many of us have been living in the age of trailers and 'insider datamining' for months / years before content appears.

And that's true (for me, at least) when it comes to DLCs. Being given a sneak peek by official sources might whet my appetite, but my hunger might fade or be sated by something else before it's time for my favourite dish to be served. If I'm given a look at the whole menu, I can avoid filling up on breadsticks or whatever to save space for what really appeals to me.

I think devs must be devastated, and US players Lost the chance to build propper hype with a first tweet with the logo and the upcoming trailers and stuff, obviously Rockstar Games makes the Best trailers by far in the Game industry, all of that is losted sadly.

Why is it lost? If anything it just started a bit earlier.

I can only speak for myself here, but I wasnt hyped for the next GTA at all. I had no plans of buying it. I have now.

See, for me personally seeing a teaser like this leaked footage is way more interessting than a Logo drop or a Trailer. A Trailer answers questions, atleast more than it is opening new questions.

A trailer tells us exactly how our protagonists look, maybe what their name is or even their background.

The teaser told us only one thing, one is female looking one is male looking. And even that isnt fixed considering everything we saw could be a placeholder.

The highly detailed car interiors open up questions about working mirrors considering those seem to be moveable. Will we be able to controll them? Can we adjust our seating in first person to make us able to have our own prefered position, will we maybe be able to choose our gta online 2.0 characters height or is it just a dev tool to avoid clipping for npc characters.

I'd say that for everyone who is a little bit interessted in how their games are made or atleast not a complete moron going "hurr durr it looks like sh*t" (no sh*t you little timmys, its pre f*cking alpha and even for that sole scenes are bloody stunning), this leak has generated way way more hype than any Logo or Trailer could have ever done.

The way I see it, the best possible way R* could handle this by showing us even more little glimpses. Nothing big or revealing. Simple animations tests, concept art, maybe an unfinished car model (like the stuff we get to see on dlc day for the dripfeed cars), a picture of a file name with a post going "Hmm, what could that be".

All that leading up to the trailer were we get to see what became of the teased stuff and a logo reveal at the end going into the next phase of building hype.

There is no way of putting the genie back into the bottle so why not grab it by the throat, harness it to the plough and put it to work.

this leak is a catastrophe, not only for rockstar games, it is a disaster for developers, employees who will be fired, and also a disaster for at least gamers like me who just wanted a tweet with a logo as it was probably going to happen at the end of October, and create hype from that, now we know the protagonists and parts of the city, nothing will ever be the same, now it only remains to see what steps Rockstar Games takes and see how this story continues.

I didn't want to look at the leaks over the weekend, figuring I could do so during a few boring moments at work.

But I didn't expect the mods here to simply wipe the thread. Now I have no clue what the leaks showed at all.

anyone else able to do the HSW time trial multiple times in a week? it keeps letting me do it for some reason. not complaining though!

Sorry for an older quote but yeah I seem to have stumbled upon that HSW TT at the beach two or more times this week. Do you have any idea what triggers being able to re-do the TT though (aside from the ULP missions, which I haven't done for a bit)?
Would be interesting to see how that's happening.

I don't think we need to be too pessimistic about civilian cars in VI, as the footage is around a year-2 years old and doesn't feature any GTA online vehicles newer than 2019. There is a good chance we'll see the STX and 3600LX as police cars but the models just weren't finished yet. Same deal with any other old ass dated ass cars.

Wrong. Buffalo STX (from The Contract) was spotted as well as a few other newer cars.

was it? do you have a timestamp/screenshot?

edit: nevermind, I found it at 36:09. looks to be a slightly lower spec version than the STX.
