I wonder if r* is going to outsource gta online updates or gta 6’s online to the FiveM times while they work on gta 6 and other titles

I do think the Final DLC whenever it happens ,will get more love from Rockstar unlike the "gonna get milk" treatment they did to RDO:sadkek:. After all it did get them a whole lot more money than they expected and for better or worse, set a new path for them to follow in their future games...

Whenever the final dlc time comes, most of the work in GTA6 would have been completed, rendering more developers free enough to make any new assets (if not straight up back port content from GTA6 like they have been doing with some cars recently) needed to make the DLC not be just recycled stuff...

I thought about it before, I suppose I was wrong and a bit misinformed at the time but what they had done was acquiring the team that makes the tech, not the content, the FiveM team doesn't have people to create assets for updates, they make the tech for the networking and servers side of things.

So I guess it's a no.

Maybe they'd be tasked to maintain/improve the backend side of stuff for GTAO, but I don't know if that's feasible for them.

I actually wouldn’t mind this if they don’t cheap out on it. Then maybe we could actually get a new title aside from a new GTA/RDR every 8 years… I would love to see a Manhunt sequel, just make the protag a female POC. Seriously, they could get away with whatever they wanted to if they did that.. Does R* own the rights to LA Noire? I’d love a sequel to that set in Detroit in the 70s.

The FiveM team is responsible for the infrastructure. Not for all the content you see within the servers.

Also, the team members may fill in the roles of programmers and tools devs. But you still need artists, audio devs, actors, motion capture staff, designers, cinematic, UI, animation, QA and so on for GTAO updates. Not to mention, requiring full access to Bugstar and HackerOne. As well as having to handle the console versions and work with Sony & MS teams. Whereas the FiveM team experience is all on PC.

In fact, you don't need all of those reasons to realize this idea of outsourcing is baffling. If Rockstar wants to outsource the updates to some other team, why pick FiveM? There are a lot of game studios out there who would love the opportunity to work with them who have the level of experience needed to run an online game.

woo... imagine a pretty big team would make some interesting DLC for Online, for example, with 8 months
im not sure how they handle so much big content in 2015-2017 but reason is that much more people worked on GTAO and they had "push" content while development of GTA6 wasnt in that big stage yet?

I mean, GTA Online content is iterated upon for a while. The development timeline for any DLC, even the smaller ones, is probably a year or close to that. From coming up with the ideas, to conceptualising it (making concept art, thinking how it'd be doable within the game, etc.) to actually producing it, a lot more time than people think passes. Things like Drug Wars were probably already in development in, say, early 2022.

This GDC conference an art director made once is revealing of the kinds of things they sometimes do, there's fully fledged concept art for each DLC, alongside highly detailed studies for the buildings that they introduce, inspirations, etc:

cwq7pnQ.png

GTA Online DLC's are still a full part of the game dev process, it's just a service that is iterated upon for a few years. But all DLC's will go through the same phases that a full game does, with the difference that they're just content additions to an existing game (so it takes less time). The reason for us only getting 2 DLC's a year isn't just resource reallocation, but also because complexity of those DLC's, even the ones people think are small, has gone up a ton post-2015/16.

Hell, a GTA Online DLC back then used to be sometimes just 2 pieces of clothing or 2 cars sometimes, imagine the feedback for that now. Bonus weeks used to be things like "50% off Lester Services week"... etc.

Why would they need FiveM when they have GSG? :cringekek:

Speaking about that, who mainly does develop gta online because I heard from someone that r* north has no or very little evolvement with gta online from about 2020

Whatever happened to that "Make your own beats" thing Tez said was unreleased earlier this year. Is it coming out in the December DLC or is it scrapped altogether?

Rockstar North's dev was quoted in March talking about the Halloween stuff they're planning for the game this year, so they're still involved, but with a small capacity I'd say, definitely not like how it was before.

This is the Design Director and was part of the original team that created the game.

R* North is still involved, but I do think Dundee is doing support on that too. I do believe R* London has done art support for GTAO DLC's too.

Just like many things in game dev, it may very well just have been cut. A concept that they prototyped into the game that didn't make it far.

Placed in the backburner? Plans change a lot within game dev. I recall that was more meant for Gen9 consoles and maybe PC. There are also the hints towards a second VIP Contract since the Contract update. You never know if that's somehow linked with that making your beats stuff.

Do you think this could mean that they may soon stop releasing DLC for gta online and switch to rp servers? Can then, in this case, the December supplement be the final one and dedicated to Michael?

Nonsense.

This game is getting DLCs until GTA VI releases.

19 órával ezelőtt a Tez2 azt mondta:

Háttérégetőbe helyezve? A tervek sokat változnak a játékfejlesztőn belül.

In a Live Stream, Solo said "Franklin" is not done with her task yet, it is likely that there will be a Contract 2 Contract 🙃

Nightclub is the best.I love my NC.It has a huge contribution in my garages filled by cars.

Sold my weed due to 2x.If we're getting pennies on 2x, imagine what the payout would be without 2x.Atleast Coke is good.R* needs to buff weed and counterfeit cash.

Loving the 2x on AP.Hope the Arena War bonus continues throughout next week.

If the winter 2023 DLC is themed after Vinewood show business, then the main mission strand should revolve around a writers strike like in real life. Plus, I'd still like to have Michael De Santa be part of this update too along with his family, Lester Crest, possibly Jack Howitzer, and even Solomon Richards' son Ira.

Everything seems to line up for a high likelihood of Rockstar announcing VI soon. Probably in the coming months.

If that happens, we might see a new collectible or a new hunt relating to VI within the December update. Just like the Treasure Hunt with the Doomsday Heist update. Or it's probably a bit early and we could see that with the Summer update instead.

I could see a new hunt or a collectible or a random event on Cayo Perico to tease VI. It would make the most sense.

If it gets announced in the coming months, I personally wouldn't expect a collectible until some update next year.

They are expecting to make a bank of profit in the next fiscal year, like... a new GTA release kind of profit.
