Auto-aim at red NPCs who are in vehicles?

Do I have a setting wrong or something.

I used to be able to auto-aim at red NPCs inside vehicles (at least I think I did) but now see that I cannot.

Getting chased during my new delivery mission from the bunker to AN.

Guys are red and in 4 door trucks.

I hop out and as they drive up auto-aim doesn't work until they hop out of their trucks.

Now, I can manually aim and blast the drive, but it get clunky if someone else hops out and I'm still trying to manual aim at driver, the auto-aim will kick in and I'll aim at the other guy.

Did this change?

Not changed afaik, you'll only lock on to ground vehicle enemies on bikes, on mounted guns, and in convertibles(?!)

What about other players?

Am I confusing this with PvP?

Entirely likely, or with contact missions with jeeps or other "yes lock on" vehicles. And yeah you can lock on to other players in vehicles.

Mandela effect :D

You were never able to lock onto NPCs unless they are getting out of a car or are in a convertible (lowrider?)

You can lock onto them if they are on a motorcycle or a quad.

If you are sitting in the passenger seat lock on works, because you use left shoulder button instead of LB (X-Box Controller), but only against enemies on foot. And while being on foot yourself lock on works against enemies that sit in the back of helicopters and bikers. Else there is no lock on i think.

This is how i remember it.

I usually don't fight chasers. If you keep them behind you it's pretty easy to just drive there with the Interaction Menu open to slap on armor and snacks when needed. The Ammu-Nation is an exception though since the Duneloader is so slow. Still I try to keep it minimal. Avoid straight highways as much as you can as it gives them an advantage to catch up. In the country, drive off road when you can to change roads. In the city, take corners. Knowing the map by heart helps a lot though since you can take shortcuts and know alternate routes.

That said when I do get out and fight them, the Minigun is my go to. Ammo is a little pricier but it saves time plus it's fun. Also no Auto-Aim to worry about with it. Just point, shoot and move a little as needed.

They never give me a problem during the ammo deliveries. Motorcycles are easy to avoid by spinning out the cars in front of you. They don’t do any damage on trucks but their constant yelling and shooting gets annoying very quickly.

I actually find this one to be easy. Duneloader is quick enough if you get going fast enough and those enemies often crash into other drivers. I rarely have a problem with them and almost never need snacks.

As far as peds in convertibles, you can only lock onto them if they're in a car that has a topless option selected. So that means the Coquette, Banshee, 811, etc. As far as cabrio such as the 9F, Felon GT, Sentinel, etc., those are no goes with auto aim. Real weird exceptions there

Dudes in the Jeeps just LOVE ramming and give you a speed boost. BTW would've been nice to have the option to upgrade the DL ... to have the half track armor at least 😢
