Things that make you kick yourself during missions

I find myself having regrets making some of the same mistakes more than once. I'll share my top 2

Franklin Payphone Hit: Trolls-Take out targets with a headshot. Get to the 3rd target full of confidence, pull out my sniper rifle and I end up missing a perfectly still target talking on a phone who now becomes a moving target. Failed the bonus because I hit him in the shoulder while running.

The Agency- Plan to do a contract using my helicopter I parked on the roof. Get to the elevator and by habit, press exit to ground instead of roof. Can't get back in the building. Plan B...call Tommy.

On a related note the same elevator thing happens to me sometimes during the weapons prep mission in Cayo. I always use my Sparrow and land on the roof of one of the offices. Got my escape all planned out heli waiting on the roof. Press exit to ground by mistake. can't get back into the building and because I went straight to the roof, enemies are alive and well that I spawn right next to on the ground level. What's not fair with this one is if I'm backing up shooting at the enemy helicopters on the roof, I can end up back inside the office by mistake yet downstairs, there's no way back in.

Anyone else with such stories?

Well, when i did the ULP mission where i needed to destroy the jammers i didnt realise they explode when you destroy them without any explosives. Learned the hard way when i was at my very last jammer too.

Ah, yes! That feel when I use the grenade launcher, and the damn thing catches on an environmental hit box, then comes right back at me. 😭🤣👌

When I want to do a mission in a ground vehicle, and then I realise the mission is on the other side of the map and I get out a flying vehicle.

Wait, there are pay phone hits that don’t require driving a tech entrepreneur into a gas pump or lake?

Yeah, the Troll payphone hits. Seems so easy...but can be failed spectacularly. I failed one because when trying to run a troll over for the bonus....he landed on top of my car and died up there.

??

Also...I failed a Judge hit because on my way to the hole I walked too close to them, triggering them to move waaaay too soon.

I just try and go for the van directly now without bothering with the jammers. ULP even comments on it :D Very open-ended mission design.

My biggest gripe is probably either some of the more difficult sourcing missions and how OP the I/E AI still is, and when I have to deliver a slow vehicle to like Grapeseed, from LS...

Doomsday Heist is fun to me until ACT2 starts and Salvage The Harddrives is the next setup.

Yeah, that setup can go away.

i ended up just shooting the tip of the jammers with my RPG wich went better then expected to be honest. I used my toreador for all of the ULP missions wich made the last one incredibly easy. And yeah, the sourcing missions from I/E are still teribble. Every car you pass is a ticking timebomb and will steer to the left or right all of the sudden when they feel like it. This is the main reason why i only sell my bunker and my nightclub because they either have a huge ass ramp on the front or a missile launcher. People are complaining about the OP'ness of the MK2 and the Oribtal Strike but they probably never sold or sourced vehicles in I/E with AI driving besides them.

I hate when I land an aircraft too hard and damage it. This happened to a hilarious extreme to me with the Tula on the new underwater crate sourcing mission. I landed hard and did something strange to the Tula. When I returned to the Tula and used the JATO to get away the airplane just did a crazy loop-de-loop. Barely landed it. Tried again and it did the loop-de-loop again, but this time I crashed. Had to fight off the damn helicopters after that.

Another kick yourself is forgetting the simple tips and tricks you've learned from doing missions before. Things like forgetting spawn points or best routes to avoid enemies. While doing the crates I realized I forgot about the missions where you watch the scanner and the cargo will always be in the last blip that appears on the radar.

The gather intel, first part of the Cayo heist. It's bad enough we have to fly a slow plane across the map. How about getting the one way up at the top of the map by Paleto bay, come in too hot with the sparrow and end up damaging the plane. Get in the plane thinking it will be ok and half way across Mt. Chiliad, the engine explode in failure. Have to jump out, parachute and then hike down the mountain and make my way back to the Sparrow somehow. My takeaway, leave the dude next to the plane alone until your on foot or this long a$$ mission will be even longer.

Great topic! Please continue!

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one so stupid. 😆

Pro tip: you can now go to an invite only session while in an invite only session. To restart after this disaster you can set your spawn to the sub, go to the menu > online > Find new session, then select the Invite Only option. You'll be taken to a new session at your spawn point, which is now the sub. A quick way to restart this mission.

I played the last ULP mission today, i put it into a spoiler.

Spoiler

I didn't realize the Juggernauts can be killed so easily with the minigun, i died like 5 times, in the part where i have to escape, i thought i can't kill them with my guns, at some point i tried out the minigun and voila that worked fine. Fight fire with fire works fine in this case. :D It's been such a long time ago that i played the doomsday heist, that i couldn't remember how to kill them easily.

Steal a good looking car and realize it's a hot one because instantly the cops are after you. Lose them. Then by mistake you drive by a precinct and find yourself frantically reaching for your snack menu.

During the Kosatka setup mission, I use grenades to clear those dudes because they have an unfair advantage where they can shoot you before you can get a good angle on them. But then sometimes i throw the grenade and it bounces off the door corner back at me. So I learned to throw them at the floor so they roll towards the enemies down the hall.

When that Payphone hit of the undercover boss comes up and you have to shoot the container off the lift, but the mechanism you have to shoot is soo small and you can't shoot it from too close or you get spotted, I end up missing almost all the shots I take 😒

Arrows to Athens

The IAA mission 'Asset Seizure'. What the f*ck is the traffic on in that mission? And why does Rockstar love to add infinitely spawning enemies in missions?

You don't even have to destroy the jammers. Simply drive the Toreador and wait for a lock-on whilst driving in the yellow markers. One of them will be the van that you need to deliver. It makes the mission so much easier less time-consuming.

So now I'm kicking myself for wasting so much time going after every jammer. One of them took me a long while to figure out how to get.

Not really a user is (maybe a "git good" issue if anything) but respawning after a death and having to equip your weapon again.  Then panicking and selecting the wrong weapon that you were not intending on using for the situation i.e. RPG

I really kick myself when I do something stupid while flying. In all the years that I have been flying in this game, when I do something ridiculous like hit a palm tree or a power line tower, I hang my head in shame.

I keep accidently selecting the rocket launcher while using the new quick snacks from the weapon wheel. Killed myself a few times that way.

During a prep mission for cayo, I tried to be all smooth and took off in my Sparrow doing a 180 and didn't realize I was right near a power line tower. Turned right into it at full speed and blew up 😂 Which reminds me I should get a newer video card. Those towers are dangerous to fly around at night with those thin structures.

On PC they made the Armor button V. Which is the same as the switch camera button, so every time I use an armor I also switch views.

And when I try to use snacks, my weapon switches randomly.
