How would you feel if GTA Online had 100 player lobbies but no blips on radar?

It’d be a goated game imo.

 

+ free aim only + no explosives in the game apart from frag grenades

Corrent me if wrong but gta 4 had an option to only show players that were nearby? If so I'd like for that to return, especially if there's a lobby size increase.

The FPS would be so low, that it's impossible to play right, the way the coding works now, nope not possible, not even with the best CPU on the market.

 

It also would be laggy af, because of the P2P system instead of dedicated servers.

 

And especially on consoles 100 player lobbies would be impossible, except everybody would wanna play in perfomance mode with only 30 FPS tops.

Technical issiues aside, it would be great in terms of immersion and general gameplay. You could creep after other players and take them out from sniper spots or just stay under the radar and watch what's happening. It would be so much better than it is now. Of course no autolock with missiles on other players and no names over players.

In a future GTAO with 2 different big cities (Los Santos and San Fierro?), 100 players at a time would be possible. 

No blips but in-game notifications could work. Hearing the news on the radio or get a text from a snitch to know where's the action would be immersive.

100 players would ...yeah, RIP performance on console.

 

But there's a sort of no-blips mode with RDO, and I think it'd be a good add for the next GTAO: blips only show up when players get in range, and aren't visible at all times like they are in GTAO. And on top of that, low-hostility players (similar to having a low "mental state" in GTAO) don't show up from long range, but the higher your hostility, the further out you can be and still show up on the radar. And IIRC, it cuts both ways: so low-hostility players can see high-hostility players coming from a mile off, while high-hostility players can't spot low-hostility players until they're in close range.

Isn't the general idea that we are all thrown in the mix together and expected to interact? How are we supposed to do that when we don't know where each other is on the map?

With 100 players on the map you are bound to run into somebody

This is a suggestion for GTA Online in an ideal world, 100 players, no radar, only free aim against other players, no modders/hackers, better network system, no weaponised vehicles etc. Dont you think it would be a much more immersive experience? It would be a proper real life hood / gangsta life simulator.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking of. It would make it such a great and fun game. You don’t want to be part of the action? Well you’re not part of the radar anyway, and if they wanted to kill you they would have to free aim it. Also frag grenades would be the only useable explosive in the game.

this is a criminal life sim, not a game where you fight people cause they wear a different color shirt.

even Franklin got out of the hood to make his agency to help rich idiots.

I would argue that GTA Online has expanded beyond even a crime simulator. It is now broadly an action / adventure type game with elements of criminal activity thrown in.

A pass from me, unless we get full PVE and PvP-optional lobbies. Otherwise it'd be just like RDRO and I just hate avoiding players and always being on the lookout to avoid the unknown, so the game would just fizzle out and I find somewhere else to play.

 

I am concerned the next GTA:O will be just like RDRO's ways, player count aside, so I'm just enjoying this GTA:O while I have significantly more freedom at my fingertips. That 'one size fits all' style just isn't for me.

 

These games need more freedom and choice!

No, cause you can never get rid of the tryhards. There is going to always be that group of people that want to ruin the game for orhers.

I don't think many peeps want a simulator, they just want a gta that's fun.

Doesn't FiveM have something like this already?

Only difference is FiveM is using dedicated servers.
There is no way to have 100-player lobbies on P2P without terrible lag.

100 player lobbies only if LS was connected to LV and SF. All under one roof. Not quite sure what the significance of free aim and "frag" grenades are though? Is that because gangsters and thugs free aim?
