The Low Grip Thread

The car meet will now fit Low Grip ie drift tyres to anything you can get in there.

There's a lot of cars in the game, so post your recommendations for best drift cars, glitchy cars, undriveable cars, you name it.

To start, the Dubsta 6x6 is much more fun sliding than it is driving.

Cyclone II is.. interesting.

The Jester Classic goes at the speed of light if you do the double-clutch (or whatever it's called now) thingy just right. Very similar to the glitch where if you pop your front tires on the Elegy Retro Custom, and then do a rolling burnout, it goes at the speed of light as well.
Also, it can somewhat drift, and I can finally say that I enjoy that car.

Schwarzer is still a personal favourite, in that it was a lot of controllable fun on snow and this carries over to the pirellis umm i mean drift tyres

Same here with the OG Futo! It was great before it had the low grips and now it's absolutely terrific for drifting.

Is it true that low grip tyres no longer affect top speed of the vehicle?

Yeah I believe that's the case. I tried out what they would do on the Reever when you do a wheelie, but with the low grip tires it only gets up to 150mph, instead of 175 with normal tires (according to the speedometer). But I think the bikes feel more fun with them anyway, they don't drift all over the place but they're not quite as supernaturally grippy

ElegyRH does great donuts with low grips, but it sucks in turns.

I think the Gargoyle is the most fun bike I've tried these tires on so far, the rear keeps kicking out when you turn. I guess if you ever wanted to powerslide with a bike, the Gargoyle is for you

The Blade too! I've actually been using the low grips on all the cars you can drag spec (wheelie bars etc). It's counter intuitive to actual performance but it makes them feel more realistic, hard to keep in a straight line, rolling burnouts, and having to slow down to a crawl to turn a corner... It just makes those cars fun. Really they should multiply the acceleration stat for all vehicles with a blower or turbo(s) installed to get this effect with normal grip tires but hey, whatever. I've also had something happen a few times that I can't seem to recreate, while driving some of the muscle cars with low grips I've had them wheelie during a rolling burnout where I never even touched the handbrake...

The Blazer is really fun, it slides controllable in corners and you can do donuts... too bad you can't put them on the Street Blazer, for some reason it has BP tires by default and you can't change them, it takes your money tho lol.

It definitely makes some of the bikes a lot better IMO. They still handle the same for the most part but it makes fast turns a lot smoother, less twitchy, and it seems to allow you to keep the revs up thru a turn so it feels like you are accelerating out of turns quicker. It does seem to lower the acceleration from a dead stop on some bikes even tho the tire isn't spinning, with the Hakuchou Drag being an exception and possibly the Sanctus but I haven't tested that one yet. I'm actually riding the Hakuchou Drag a lot more now because it's WAY better with low grips.

I put these on my Cheetah Classic and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I have to really pay attention when I drive the thing now, no more weaving in and out of traffic without a care in the world, end up ass backwards if I don't slow down for turns

Might put them on some other cars

Might put them on the Franken Stange if I'm feeling masochistic

They do bring a certain GTAIV feel to the cars, ie, the throttle will punish you, as it should.

Any car with drift tires.

My brand new drift car collection is composed of the Nebula Turbo, Jester Classic, Sabre Turbo Custom, Zion Classic, Drift Tampa and the Drift Yosemite, all with the craziest mods available(such as the dual turbos on the Nebula and the big-ass V8 with a supercharger on the Zion Classic).

I'm thinking about turning my Banshee 900R into a Drift missile since it doesn't really works as a racecar so well(handling sucks) but it does have a meaty MDSB to help on Drifts and a naturally slidey handling, so I think it can be interesting.

I'm taking suggestions for the last three spots free...And I wonder how a FWD car could fare with low grips.

The 900R is fun with low grips, I built one last night for the same reasons you listed. It has a point of no return on the over steer but if you find that and are careful not to cross it you can hold a controlled slide very nicely. I ended up selling it because the only skirt option I like the Bravado badge is goofy on the driver side lol.

The Jester Classic is wild, it seems to have already been effected a lot by the handling changes in this update anyway, when you add low grips it really rides the rev limiter lol. I think it only sounds faster with low grips but it sure is fun.

Confirmed Gargoyle is the most fun bike now! I tried the Cliffhanger thinking it would be the same but not even close unfortunately as I prefer it over the Gargoyle normally. As far as bikes go tho, I like them all better with low grips so far. I haven't tried the Sanchez yet but I'm hoping to get a hold of a supermotard one again (street wheels) like I had back in my console days.

+1 on the Gargoyle with low grip tires, it reminds me A LOT of how bikes used to handle on GTA IV, minus the bouncing.

Amazing suggestion, I might even bring it to races because the thing is surprisingly rideable at high speeds even with those tires on.

What happens if you combine the large rear wheel wheelie speed glitch with them? Blood?

Glendale, fully upgraded, but with stock suspension and low grip tires.

So much fun.

How about the Sanctus? That thing was already heavy and had the power to do proper burnouts.

Arrows to Athens

Had some fun with the Jester Classic last night. I do wish there were more long straights in the map and a jump at the end of the runway like in San Andreas, especially at Sandy Shores.

A fully upgraded Regina is a surprisingly fun lower speed drift car on low grips.

The Sanchez might be fun off road somewhere but in the city you are going to die on that thing.

Also the S2 Cabrio is a no-go on the low grip tires.

Edit: Rapid GT Classic is a big fat YES on low grips.

There is quite an steep learning curve, but you can make do with the Asbo.

It's FWD but it also has toe angle on the front and/or rear tires, so the vague steering inputs makes it work.

Before coming up on a corner, lift off the gas to cause a lift off oversteer, then accelerate while countersteering HARD, it takes some learning but it can be quite fun!

The Chimera (three wheel trike) has me doing 360's almost every corner.

I spent an hour playing around trying to half or blip the throttle and it just snaps when it wants to.

In a straight line wheelie it's bloomin' fun.

It's awesome. And also terrible. Certainly reminds me of the way GTA 4 bikes handle even more than it did before. In almost every turn, you'll probably be doing a whole lot of this:
unknown.png?width=1920&height=1080
Also, I have noticed that it can't reverse uphill anymore.

The Vortex with its stock slick tires with drifts applied is fun. Like someone else here, said, some bikes feel like IV bikes with them applied.

I tried to put them on the Oppressor but I guess you can't mod it at the car meet. You can't even rev the engine.

The Franken Stange is a wild beast with these wheels, you can't floor it taking off or you just do a burnout, and forget using the e-brake at all

With the BF Surfer seems the cornering is a bit better with low-grip.

When you start to slide, brace for impact though.
