RDR2 is proof that you don't need fancy special effects to look realistic.

I'm playing the PS4 Pro version of RDR2 every now and then and comparing it to Forbidden West's graphics, makes the latter look very shallow and a little cartoony in spite of the better ambient lighting and more detailed environment and character models.

I know the PC version of RDR2 looks sharper and overall better than Forbidden West's graphics, but RDR2's grounded presentation makes it more pleasing to the eye. Hell, when I was playing, my mom even got it mistaked for a movie. IMO, other games with objectively better graphics kind of look like CGI movies with overpresented special effects.

No. Forbidden West looks more realistic. Rdr 2 looks a bit movie like

Forbidden West looks like a disaster ... the art direction of the Horizon franchise is horrible in my opinion. You can't tell what's in front of you because the world is clustered with colorful things.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best looking game out there, especially considering that it's a massive open-world.

I understand the Art Direction somehow. They wanna emphasize how life is "blooming" again in their world. But, most of the people look really plastic-y, barely any detail on NPCs faces, except for the main characters. Everything is too bright and too sharp, I had to tone down the in-game contrast to 0-25% most of the time and lowered my sharpness one notch.

Speaking of cluster/clutter, there's just too many spawn points for a particular machine and there are around 40 kinds of them. Something a little toned down like RDR's spawns would have been better. Although, RDR's map were innacurate as hell.

To the other dude, I get your point, but I still disagree. The Horizon series has overall better handling of details and graphical "processing", but the art style doesn't look realistic as I stated.

What? I am all for fanboying over RDR2, but to call Forbidden West a disaster is just wrong.

The game is one of the best looking games we have gotten so far from this generation, it is very impressive and beautiful.

One of the very first games that do actually stand shoulder to shoulder with RDR2's visual representation.

Yep I gotta agree with you. Forbidden West Looks very good and IMO is the only recent open world game to be in RDRII Tier as far as graphics and looks. I will say though that RDRII is absolutely the more detailed game overall.

I think Forbidden Wests or Horizon's art style is just not that great. Too colorful with too much on screen. You don't know where you need to focus. That's what I mean. Visually it is impressive!

Sure, I think I can agree with that.

The only game that can hang with RDR2 in realism since it has come out is TLOU2, let's be honest.

Which is testament to RDR2's brilliant visuals, TLOU2 is a linear game while RDR2 is open world, maintaining outstanding graphics in a gigantic map the entire time.

With that said, Horizon Forbidden West is the only game that is comparable to Red Dead Redemption 2, which is once again, a testament to Rockstar's wizardry, because RDR2 is PS4 and HFW is PS5 (I know it's PS4 too, but I am talking about the best version of it).
