Can't stop something appearing on the internet once it's out there, and that was never their goal. The take-downs were to put the fires out in the most public places, which they did.

I understand that Rockstar doesn’t owe anybody anything, but it’s just insulting for them to say “look forward to more news soon” and then they go 100% silent for several months. It’s not “mysterious and cryptic” it’s just sh*tty. It’s sad to see large corporations more soulless than ever before, a lot of them don’t even bother connecting to their people anymore.

Which isn’t a good trend. Q&A sessions, transparency with fans, etc has turned into messages that go directly into the trash and automated replies.

It's only because AAA games take so much longer to make now. Until we have super advanced AI doing most of the work, this won't change.

A lot of gaming communities have also become dumpster fires in the past few years, fewer and fewer devs are wanting to interact with their own communities because of the proliferation of toxicity and even actual harassment on social media.

But you’d think that these companies would have more than enough money and resources to keep the human aspect of their company alive and well. Just imagine if Rockstar did one single GTA 6 Q&A session during the info drought of 2018-2022, it would’ve done a lot to make people not go half crazy.

You got me there. I can't even explain that one. I don't like the lack of info either. But then again, it's not a bad thing if you know nearly nothing until close to release. EXTREMELY hard though to resist taking in all the information as soon as it's out there. I can't say I avoided that leak....

 

Still though, there were other games where after a couple trailers, I stopped watching and reading stuff.

I'm going with spring 2024, possibly fall, then 2025 on PC.

I'll be so happy if it's 2023, but usually trailers come at LEAST a year before release.

The first trailer might just have "2024" and no specific date.

yeah i agree with you Jason that they are probably way too far in development for those to be placeholder names

 

i mean i assume they are already done with the main story mo-cap and probably doing everything else (side missions, dialogue etc. etc.)which they won't finish until close to release?

This is a bralizian game inspired by GTA, said by the developers themselves, they're working for a decade on this project more or less now, and considering that it's a independent studio and that Brazil was never known for the best games in the industry, this looks pretty good imo, such a shame it's a PC only game tho. Remember this still is the alpha version.

I always keep coming back to this video. Idk, it fascinates me. It's what I want VI to be like.

Look at those cars, clubs and restaurants, everything is filled with people. The city is alive. I hope we get that in VI. Many of them being enterable of course.

We don’t need Q&As I’m fine with big publications interviewing them. That’s probably the best way imo. But R* doesn’t give out interviews often.

Everyone's experience is different. My own experience has been 90% wonderful. I get it, though. But being a mod or admin, you'll see a hell of a lot more sh*t. But for os normies, just stick to your own circle of friends, etc and you'll be fine. Pro tip; Don't engage in "drama" no matter what. It's pointless and only damages your mental health.

Then you're a numpty.

 

Now more than ever before we need developers interacting with the community given how prevalent post-launch support is in both single player and online games. The ability to support games long after launch means they can fix, tweak and improve the game directly because of player feedback. By communicating directly with players they can get a better idea of exactly where the issues are and how to fix them. Big publications cannot be trusted to do this in any shape or form in almost all cases.

 

So we need devs to interact with communities again, not want, need, but it will never happen anytime soon as toxicity on the internet is absolutely rife these days.
