In the recently updated GTAV's credits, they out Leslie's name in there, he didn't make it into RDR2's credits but I think Dan's situation with them is different so he will probably be there.

The mapping thread is going to be in a weird situation right now when the first trailer gets released, because some people have already worked out some areas of the map but with the leaked footage, so mapping the game based on the first trailer is gonna be a little strange, as it wasn't the official look at the game.

 

Unless the ban on leaked footage gets removed by them, but I doubt it.

Pretty sure the main mapping effort is on discord, leaks are safe there

There's a chance parts of the map are still wrong even with all the footage, as was the case with GTA V even with lots of trailer frames and screenshots, so there'll still be a lot of work to tweak and fix things with the official marketing materials.

Do you happen to remember what part of the trailers/screenshots didn't make it into the final game?

 

I just remember the first trailer had a scene with a mountain that had way more texture than the mountains in the final game. Probably was Mt Chiliad tho

Oh yeah but what I mean is, usually the progress made on the mapping thread is based on footage/screenshots of the game, now the progress that is made as of right now is purely based on the leaked stuff, when people get to see the trailer, they will just add on to that but I am assuming they will still be not allowed to share the leaked footage, so the discussions about this should be weird as the fan made map will have some portions done with no visual explanations as to why they were made the way they are, just "yeah based on the leaked footage".

 

I am sure some will start fresh basing their work entirely on the official materials.

 

Either way, looking forward to being part of that whole thing.

The shot you are talking about wasn't necessarily altered as much as it was shot in a misleading way, it gave the impression that the mountain was a whole lot bigger than it actually is, it also suggested that there is some forest or green area right ahead of the hikers, when in reality, they were right next to a highway.

Well as long as they use the trailer footage only and rest by just describing from the leaks. Or a separate work for the trailer and official footage only but eh

The second trailer for GTA V contained a lot of beta content I believe.

The "too old" stuff started with the first trailer too, especially since a lot of people thought it was Tommy.

 

Nobody knew he'd be called Michael Balcony Guy De Santa in the final game.

My first impression when seeing Michael in the first trailer at 0:40 gave me the vibes that Michael was some sort of a mob boss, turned out to be an old fart with mid life crisis that likes doing yoga.

I am actually glad they changed his look, I think they've changed him many times, he looks different between the first trailer and second trailer, I think he also looks slightly different between his own trailer and the model we got at launch.

I think the first trailer will actually get us out of the weird situation with the mapping stuff.

 

Like, even current maps by people like DuPz0r are probably okay even now. I think the only sticking point would be directly ripping the minimap stuff but if you recreate it by hand then I don't think there will be much issue my self once the first trailer drops.

 

Right now the maps are a little iffy cause they're all entirely based on leaked content but once we get official info I think we'll be .
